When I first got the Polo I had ideas about lowering it on ATS cups or similar but it's proved so comfortable and reliable that my g/f just uses it everyday as standard. The ride height is handy for traversing speedbumps that I would scrape the Golf sump on! |

Loving the Autostadt number plate surrounds too.... I thought they made a nice change from all those 'common' Autohaus Wolfsburg ones everyone seems to have now... Free from the Autostadt, tricky to explain what they were to non-English speaking staff there though...! ;D |

The Polo is looking as good as ever - i'm suprised you don't have a lid on your glovebox, you'd have thought the top-of-the range GLS would have had one  Are you going to the Retro Car Show this year? - would be nice to see our Inari cars together Nice looking GTi too - I'm of the opinion that the Mk2 Golf GTi is one of the few great all-rounders of all time, combining classless image with classic styling, practicality and reliability yet satisfy the enthusiastic driver with sharp handling & decent performance - the valver being the cream of the crop (though I do like the torquey nature of the 8V) |

I believe that a Mk2 Polo one fits, must get round to finding one and trying it. No, won't be at Retro Cars Show - bit too far in the Polo to be honest, I was knackered last year after about a 3 -4 hr drive each way in the little buzz box! Did hit an indicated 90mph though on the way, gosh only knows what rpm the engine is doing at that speed! Yep - Mk2 GTI is a great all rounder. Old enough to be 'classic' but still reliable and practical enough for everyday. I prefer the 16v to the 8v now although the 8v I had did feel torquier at low revs. After some fidding with the k-jet injection my 16v is now pretty torquey to0 though for a 1.8 plus I'm averaging well over 30mpg with nearly 150bhp! |
