MrSigma- Cheers mate it makes it seem worthwhile doing the thing when people say they like how its going Smiler- Those brakes were great when i test drove it, but its got some stupid problem with it that i just cant fathom. It keeps letting in air from somewhere, and ive replaced the servo and master cylinder 3 times, and checked out all of the brake pipes but i cant find where its letting in air Soon as i can sort that out i will give you the full run down! Keefy- Thanks for the comments!Glad you like it ;D Fomoco- Cheers bud, your too kind ;D I did start a thread on passionford a long time ago, but i don't think i get on with that forum. Theres alot of good quality motors on that site, people are much more understanding on here about rust, bullet holes and other stuff It is good for getting info from though. Got some more little stuff to update with which i'll put on soon!

I found a cut-off switch from some sort of industrial machine that is going to serve as my fuel cut-off switch: don't quite know where to mount it yet, its a right heavy thing!

I fired the beast up today after a long time sitting on my parents drive and its smoking more than Dot Cotton It could need the oil changing again, but i think its only been in about 4 months I gave it new valve stem seals about 3 years ago and its only done about 30 miles since, so maybe its something more terminal But, every cloud has a silver lining.... where there is need for replacement there is oppertunity to upgrade! So, what to do? Refurb the CVH? do a ZVH? Full Zetec? Any suggestions welcome cos I'm not sure what i should do at the moment!

if its only done 30 miles in 3 years I bet a good razzing up and down a motorway would work wonders for the smoky engine.

if its only done 30 miles in 3 years I bet a good razzing up and down a motorway would work wonders for the smoky engine. I worded that badly....... I meant to say that it has been sat for 5 years, but i changed the stem seals around 3 years ago, and its had regular oil changes and has been started up periodically. Its been driven 30 miles recently but it keeps smoking. really should have rebuilt it when i was putting it in Skudnorman- yeah zetecs are looking like a really attractive option, the only thing thats stopping me is that i really wanted it to be modified with 80's parts exclusively.......... although i may be bieng stupid to cling to that when such a good power plant will go straight it in Really not sure!

i can see the problem there. it's definately a hard one, altho i think, if a cheap Zetec came along, there'd be only one answer.

air leak could be your inlet manifold gasket? or carb/inlet manifold gasket? how many miles has bottom end got on? may need new piston rings if its burning loads of oil! could just get another cvh and re build its bottom end, keep your head?

The brackets were about 25 quid....... they're not difficult things to make, i was just short on time and buying them ready to bolt up was an attractive option!

Yeah your right Silvemachine- its probably just the rings. The engine had done 70,000 miles, but it had stood for 10 years before i ripped it out the doner car, dropped the oil, changed the stem seals and carb and pressed it into service, LOL! I really, really should have overhauled it before putting it in. Asking for trouble! But Fomoco's got me all interested in a zetec now...... they're dirt cheap now, and i could throw one in (with a quick rebuild this time) and have an engine with good BHP with plenty of room to improve Then theres the ZVH option- but it would seem silly to adapt a single cam head to bolt up where a twin cam zetec head once was....... Fomoco- have you sorted that overheating problem out with your zetec conversion?

Ahh thats the front wing off my now sadly departed rover P6 ;D Other scrap of interest is Benzboys old blue front seats from his merc, just after he put toyota supra ones in ;D SLIGHT UPDATE: I have scored myself a council garage down the road from me! Woop! Now at last i can bring the old girl in from the elements, and drag its unfinished ass up here so i can work on it easier, instead of it bieng 50 miles away I can also stash an engine in their and rebuild it, where as before i was limited for space, and getting it in the neck from the parentials when i bring home more 'junk' No power in there but hey ;D

Street, you're car is simply awesome! I love the fact (and please don't take offence at this, as it definitely isn't meant to be taken that way!) that it's something the average leadfooted boyracer will disregard as nothing more than untidy old fodder for his Saxo, then when it hammers the pants off him, outcorners and decisively outbrakes him, then snorts off into the distance he'll go home and have knightmares about it! simply bloody brilliant! ;D I like the alloys, but the slightly untidy steels look really super cool, and definitely gives it the double hard barsted street racer look in bags! Especially as just about anyone who comes across this car (not yoghurt related you understand!) won't have any clue about the amount of developement and thought that's gone into the important bits, ie under the skin! Love that dashboard by the way, that, I think is the ultimate in trick! Good work that man, keep it up! ;D

Cheers snapdragon! ;D Thats kinda what i was going for, and there are plenty of boyracers around here to upset I wasnt really sure weather to keep the alloys or the steels, i like both looks, so i reckon i might just keep the steels handy in case i feel like a change Thanks for the compliments, appreciated!!!
