Seems as good a place to start. Hello folks, looks like a decent forum you guys have here. Above is my Alfasud 1.7Ti, which both my wife and I hillclimb and sprint. we started this year, and have only been at gurston so far, but we can often be found at the haynes motor museum, where we both volunteer and use their track as our test circuit!

Great first post! I'm sure the other 'Sud owners on the board will be full of praise too. I love the matt paint and the motorsport look...I used to be a regular spectator at Italian Intermarque races a few years ago, so cars like yours bring back some fond memories. Incedentally, who is faster...you or the Wife?

Thanks! the front end was matt black as the chap who was helping me out with the rebuild (bought with a dented front end - see below) and he decided the blue would be a pain to match, so we OKd the black! We love it. Mrs RupturedDuck started 2.0s slower, and on our last outing was 1.6s. She is catching up, and has the talent to be as quick by the end of the year. She weighs a fair bit less than me so should be quicker ;D

Welcome Mr.R.Duck! That looks like great fun,.. I *LOVE* Italian cars and have a real place in my heart for Alfa Suds and 33s. Welcome to the forum, make sure you keep us updated on your experiances with hillclimbing! There are a lot of us on here that would like to give it a go! I used to be a regular spectator at Italian Intermarque races a few years ago Same here,.. mainly at Brands Hatch, got LOADS of photos of Fiat 500s battling Lancia Fulvias and the like

For our day to day car we has 33s until very recently. Great cars, and not as unreliable as made out. Serious bargains to be had out there, but some real nails too.
Hill climb is easy to get into and not as expensive as you might think. Surely I am not the only person on the board who does hill climb?

I did post a picture of Mark's car on here a little while ago (just after I'd been to Gurston and seen the car!).
Hillclimbing is possibly the easiest motorsport to get into in any car.

and relatively cheap too! Once you have the car and the kit - don't need to spend a fortune, then its around £70-£80 for an event.

Thanks tonycocacola! Hi psycho, I have a road-legal 1.3Ti that I have for summer use only too (see below!) but has to be sold to keep me racing! In the race car, its a lump from a 33, on an early 1.2 Ti 5 speed box (still made of chocolate tho...). The top end of the engine was nicely sorted by the last owner with a lot of effort getting the right cams and valves. Has solid lifters too. Not gonna dig round the engine too much this year, need reliability and when we get this season out of the way we will play a bit more.

Pity your having to sell what looks like a very nice road car.I've not put any pic's of my car on the site but if anyone wants to see it the car was on the cover of retro mag june 04. I'm hitting 60 in 5.5 and 100 in15.4 timed at bruntingthorpe last year. please keep everone informed of any and all results from future races.

£1200 to insure a Sud for 12 months. Fecking just-getting-licence-bloody-bollocksy. *n Classic policy is the way to go! Need to be over 25 in most cases. I pay £120 Comp for the Sud on a classic policy, which includes unlimited green cards, and breakdown cover (UK & Euro) And yes, is me from the other board, when you wanted to see it, as you know, it had been stored for a the first few months of winter and decided not to fire up. Had all that sorted now, and I am umming and ahhing about using up some body shop favours I am owed to just make her that bit nicer. I did drop you an email a few weeks back, but not heard. Not advertised it yet tho...
