I bought it in August 2001 with 23,00 miles on the clock and no tax or MoT, it had been stood for 5 years, 4 of them in a garage.
It flew straight through an MoT, I painted the steels white and I clocked up 1000 miles in the first month, driving to Cornwall and back...
I got back from Cornwall and fitted a Maniflow LCB, stainless RC40 and generally tidied it up.
Before long the original engine gave up its crankshaft oil seal and a 1275 Metro unit was quickly fitted. By this time I had fitted 8.4" discs, superfin drums, 12" wheels, Gp2 arches and a few other bits. I hope to rebuild it into a 1220 one day.
In March 2003, the flywheel decided to part with the crank during an over zealous hillstart!! So since then have been gradually getting it back to a stadard where I can use it everyday again, as I crashed the Golf.
The only welding it has ever had has been the handbrake mount and a new front wing. All original paint and original 1977 rear subframe, waxoyled from new. All original documents inc. the bill of sale.
I will post some better pictures when I can, just took this today quickly, the wing still needs painting...
Spec includes...
