My daily driver. My dad brought it about 3years ago as part of a job lot of parts and shells. It had been a bit bodged (the paint work is crappy and the floor was 50% seam sealer and bathroom sealent!) didnt have an engine fitted but did have mk2 discs on the front which was nice. I started work on the car when i was 16 as i relised that i wasnt going to get my mini that i have been working on since i was 13 ready for when i passed my test. First stage of work involved reconing the brakes, fitting a old 1300x-flow i had laying around, fitting fishnet recaros and general prepping it for an MOT. Luckly it passed the MOT. (the guy didnt even notice the rear shocks wernt bolted on!) It went back on the road about Dec 2003 athough i didnt pass my test untill may so it sat around unsed for a while Once i started driving it daily i soon relised it was damn slow and rolled around like a jelly so i desided to make some mods. As i speak the spec goes like this: Body - mk1 escort 1972 4 door, battery in boot (bodys pretty standard as its not relly worth modding a rusty 4door) Running Gear - English back axle (std diff) with radius arms and panhard rod, Billistein shocks, Auto prop, 2.8 capri Billistein front struts and brakes (vented discs, MI6 callpers) 6x13 Crosswire alloys, Toyo 185/60 tyres Gearbox - Serria 5speed type 9 Engine - 1300 block bored +90thou (approx 1380cc), Fully lightend, balanced + polished bottom end, 10:1 compression ratio, spiral baffled sump, Kent 234 cam kit, ported GT spec head, steel rocker posts, Aldon/Lucus electronic dizzy, GT ex. manifold, Ashley exhaust, GT spec twinchoke weber (manual choke), K+N Filter, light flywheel, uprated clutch, Interior - Mostly stripped, Sparco Evo Seats, Sebelt 4point harnesses (aicraft buckle), 6 clock dash, Think thats about it slater.. ps. first post! ;D

I love the square lights and one-piece bumper, back in the boy-racer era, when Mk1s were two-a-penny, the one-piece/square light combo showed a little class and free-thinking. One local legend had a cream 2 door - Lotus steels, 1 piece bumper, square lights and a seriously slammed stance. He drove around most of the time at totally legal speeds...but you gould hear the engine struggling to tick over with the lairy cam and the Webers and you knew not to mess.

I'm glad soemone likes it like that , most poeple seme to prefer the round lights. Originaly i only put the bumper on the front to cover up a botched repair on the frot panel but ive grown to like it quite a bit. I think the bumper on the back looks great aswell. Ive got some ally on order to do some door cards and center console so il post some pics when done slater..

Nice Mate Looks good. A lot of people don't like 4 doors or square lights but with the right combo it can look good - yours does that. I quite like that look as they tend to look more 'standard model' which with a hot crossflow or something is just how you want it ;D ;D It's only the last 12 months or so that I put the quarter bumpers on mine & that was only because they were a good buy. Previously had full bumper with overiders which I thought looked good anyway. Will have to scan more earlier photos of mine in when/if I can find them!! ;D

gotta love those square lights. curse word to replace though. I used to have a 1300E with square lights, someone smashed one of them and it took me ages to find a new one

Nice car You should of took it to the Historic Motor Show last weekend at Stoneleigh. Do you have any plans to rally it or sprint it in the future?

I don't think il be doing anything like that with this car. Its more of a daily runaround atm. I do have a 2door shell that I'm thinking of restoring/rally prep and then transfering the mechanical parts over athough the shell needs soo much work it will probably never happen Did i mention me and my dad are building a 2door with a 2L zetec and 6 link capri axle for tarmac rallys maybe hillclimes/sprints etc. (not relly got any pics atm or i would post it)
