The bug is a 1967 1500 but it’s a 1968 model, which has turned into a pain in the when buying parts!! It has -68 channels and tie rods ends...which i found out after buying the parts! It was bought 3 years ago for £250 and had been standing outside for 5 years but it had a full service history original bill of sale and virtually every mot and it turns out its covered 226 thousand miles! On its original engine that’s been rebuilt twice in its life and it still seems to be going strong.
But unfortunately the bug turned out to be a complete rotter when we started stripping it as you can probably see in the pictures and what originally started out as quick patch up and get it through and mot soon turned into a full body off resto on a very tight budget!

Mods,
Hidden hinges - Using Reliant Robin door hinges!(only cost £30) We have completely redone the door pillars and doors to accept these and we have finally got them fitting right J and look pretty trick.
A Britax Ragtop is going to be fitted(£100).
We have de-seamed the door pillars to carry on with the smooth look all the handles are going and solenoids are being fitted to the doors, bonnet, decklid and the stock aerial hole has been welded up.
Custom seat brackets so Recaro seats are a straight fit as i’ve never been a fan of stock seats.(although we have left the original seat runners in place in case for some strange reason I wanted to fit stock seats again!)
One piece windows will be fitted along with popouts.
Wheels - 16” Porsche Boxster alloys.
So far all the work on the car has been done ourselves apart from getting new ball joints pressed in at Kingfisher Kustoms.
Some random pics, far to many to post all of them,
Some rust shots,
Stripped chassis down to this,
All done in a single garage,
Now pics,
As you see all the crappy jobs have been done and its 100% rot free but i just need to get my into gear and get it finished so the plan is to update this thread as i go along! planning to spend every evening next week on it so expect some updates!
