ok, i just spent ages writing down heaps of stuff about my cars but i randomly messed it up so here's some pics for now and i'll do the rest later: 1981 EX lancer: old engine: new engine: interior: 1976 TA23 Celica: how it was: current state: and this is an RA28 i used to own that some ford freak boganised, it's in the process of being brought back to toyota goodness though: enjoy the pics (i hope), i'm just your average working guy so there hasn't been too much spent and what i can do i do myself (including everything done to the lancer, engine swap, driveline swap, interior swap, etc, etc, etc..........). i'll put up some details later. cheers Matt

Maybe I run the risk of getting lynched here, but I think those shelby stripes really suit that celica. But then I am a Ford nut ;D
Awesome cars BTw, I've always had a hankering for an early Celica.

Those are A1. That TA23 is worth a small fortune here.... Not as much as the RA's! Splendid vehicles Rxtoy...I thought the RX in you username might have referred to the Cressida model code, but obviously not...what does it stand for?

rxtoy's from when i first started using forums, i had an AE85 corolla trueno RWD coupe i was planning on dropping a 13B into, ie: rotary toyota = rxtoy. i gave up the idea (when you fall for old toyota's it becomes sacrilege to put other brand motor's into them) but i've just stuck with the username. and i'm in New Zealand, heaps of old school Japanese goodness over here, and its turning into a place where a lot of it is being restored and modified which is all good with me. some info on the cars: 1981 EX lancer: (we never got EX2000's over here so i'm building my own) Starion 8V SOHC engine, EX1800 loom, computer, gearbox, 2 piece driveshaft, rear diff with solid discs and open centre front struts with vented discs (stock was rear drums and solid discs up front), oil cooler, boost gauge, black interior, recaro seats, momo steering wheel, some cheap gearknob, lowered 3" all round with compressed springs (very hard to find aftermarket springs for this car over here in NZ), mirage rear shocks, shortened front shocks, 15x6 wheels up front and 16x7 at the back. the rear wheels are going to be the fronts for my celica eventually, the other two are 16x8 otherwise i'd put them on the lancer cause i reckon they look cool too. i've done all the work to the car myself (most of it was bolt in but plenty of diagnostic stuff to get it to run and swapped from cable to hydraulic clutch and some other tricky stuff) with the help of a couple of friends every now and then. future plans are a multipoint injection manifold which will necessitate an aftermarket computer (currently investigating megasquirt) and i've got most of the bits for a turbo upgrade and a front mount intercooler sitting in the shed. 1976 TA23 Toyota Celica: this is currently in storage for another month or two til i get a pay rise and i can start doing some serious work on the body. i'm not 100% sure on what i will do but am seriously considering a tube frame front end with lexus v8 and putting some tubs in the rear so i can get some decent rubber in there and go drag racing. will have to wait and see what happens with this one though. cheers Matt

I love the Celicas! I agree with those viper stripes though, would look much nicer without them.

There's similar American Racing one's that are called "Hurricanes" and then "Tornados" with a different amount of spokes for each. Those however, will be Cheviot Turbos, they're fairly common over here, really excessively common, like Cheviot Hotwires, and Tridents. I'm not a huge fan. But that's what they are ;D

Kyteler's right (as he usually is about almost anything japanese and RWD ), they were cheviot turbo's. i swapped them with a mate a while back for some tyre's and a drop tank for the celica, he's polished them up and they look quite styley on his g/f's TA22 convertible. i almost wish i had've kept them but they're not really what i want long term plus it was a pretty good deal. i want something with a bit of dish!!!!!! like some 15x7 Watanabe's if i could find some for less than the price of your average car over here sweet as though, something will come along, there's plenty of nice wheels out there. ps: cheers for the link to the board kyteler. loved those CROWNs lots. cheers Matt

Those wheels are fairly common over here on muscle cars. Mostly because of the General Lee; ie:Dukes of Hazard. But they suit the car because it's actually from that era as well.
