Is it just me or does anybody else get totally lost in the "local meets" threads? I'm going to try and get to a few local and possibly not so local meets this year but whenever I try and find the most recent date it all goes wrong Personally I would find it much easier if the thread title was modified each month to include the latest date, that way any noobs or even retards like myself could easily identify which meets are happening soon without having to trawl through several pages of ..When's the next one?...is this still on?... whos up for it? etc etc. A clearly titled new thread might help now and again as well. just a thought

That's what I do with our local 'meat'.... update the front page (i.e. the title) every month. I think key to these 'informal' meets is sticking to a regular date and venue. Changing the day place or time just because one person can't make it is a load of cock. Keep it simple, and keep it regular. We have had some cracking turn-outs at our Beds & Herts meets, 30-odd individuals. Sometimes it's pants, last month there was just 6 of us, but this month there will be more, and more the month after. (ps... it this wednesday if you want to come )

Give me a month or two to swap the engine on the Sapporo and I'll be there

I wonder whether it'd be worth seperating off all the R-R organised regional meets into another section somehow? It could get more difficult to see whats happening where and when once all the summer shows start in ernest again?

Surely this is where mail-shots / the now defunct RR newsletter could be used.... weekly emailed updates of what is going on where?

Do you need an 'events co-ordinator'? Wouldn't take too long to comb through the Meets & Events section to get dates and locations?

i was thinking the other day about starting an Events thread, purely for people to stick events and dates into. Just copy whats before and add to it - no comments or replies etc. Then we have our own events calendar of sorts

I think all we need is a single page with a list of venue, date (just 'first tuesday' or similar will do), start time and the commitment of one or two people to attend regularly.

Excellant. I'll be there for sure this year

Would it be worthwhile having a map somewhere with meet locations on? Something like Frappr but each location having the full address, postcode and maybe a link to the thread. It might be an easy way for a newbie to find out what is happening locally and an easy way to dig up old meeting threads.

Map idea sounds good, especially if combined with separating the regional meets and general events.
I really enjoy our's, it's a great way of putting faces to names and finding out about local specialists and other things of interest. If a new member gradually gets to know a few people at something like this then they'll be far less intimidated should they visit RR07 (not that I can, hence trying to get to the local do!). I think more people should be encouraged to get along to them, hopefully some of the above would help that.
Stuyizz, look forward to seeing you this year at The Angel!
