Next week we're away for a bit of a holiday, staying in Steeple Ashton. According to my map, it's not too far from Chippenham, Devizes, Trowbridge, Bath and Bristol.
Anything interesting there? Car museums? Barn full of mint-condition unmolested swallowtail Mk1 Golfs? That sort of thing?

Me! ;D Honestly - no, not really. I work in trowbridge, used to live here for 2 years but live a bit further away now. Only lived down this part of the country for about 4 and a half years so i'm not all that well up on places to visit. In all fairness, trowbridge, chippers and devizes don't have much - ok if you're after a scrap on a saturday night, if you catch my drift Bristol and bath are probably the places to visit, don't know about car related stuff tho Haynes motor museum is in somerset, about an hour from trowbridge i think, that's worth a visit. Sorry, i can't be much more help. But here's a local joke to get you in the mood: Why do girls from trowbridge like potatoes? <west country accent> cos they've got devizes fer chippenham </west country accent>

Close to my Manor and of course Castle Combe race track - not sure whats planned there over the next few weeks - surely something over the bank holiday. The retro Alfas usually visit at this time of year.

There are also 3 (count 'em) VW specialist breakers.
Golf City in Wick (on the A420) Elmer's White House in Brislington, Bristol (A4) and the best is: Volksmania on the road to Stroud (A46)

Isn't there also a great old Merc specialist very near Castle Combe? Went past it yesterday and there was a well-cool W108 in white - with vinyl roof and no hubcaps...
