I'm selling this Land Rover on behalf of my uncle, who has owned the vehicle since it was 18 months old. We are very keen for this car to go to a good home as it has been in the family a long time, and I have travelled in it since I was a child! It has been meticulously maintained by my two uncles who are both mechanics, one of whom has recently passed away which is why it is sadly now for sale. The specifications are as follows: 1965 S2a 88" 2.25 Diesel. 12 months MOT, Tax exempt. Hard top with rear door. Alloy door tops with new bottoms. Brand new 7.50x16 tyres. Free wheel hubs. Overdrive Sound original chassis Reconditioned engine with approx. 60,000 miles. New battery Starts first time and runs very well. Comes with a huge amount of new and used spares. £1700 It's located in Nottingham. I'd really like to keep this old Landy, but I wouldn't be able to find the space or the time to maintain it. If you would like more information, or would like to see the Land Rover, drop me a PM or email. Cheers

Nice, but much too rich for me.
Is the bumper original? it would indicate military use - odd for it be pensioned out at 18 months...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Pog - The bumper probably isn't original, and I'm pretty sure it's not an ex-military Landy. My uncle must have fitted it at some point - it's been on there for as long as I can remember. I think there are quite a few non-original parts and extras on it. Rean - I really wish me and Steve could take it on, but neither of us have the space or the cash to keep it. It would be ideal if we kept it in the family but I'd sooner it go to someone who will love and maintain it rather than it sit outside not being used. If it doesn't sell though, we might have to get custody - temporarily at least! Rob - There's a bench seat up front, and two side-mounted bench seats in the back, so no seatbelts at the rear. Good call on the "family wagon", I'm sure that's exactly what she had in mind! ;D

Has there been much work done to the chassis and bulkhead, some closer pics of the usual problem areas would be good if at all possible? Having failed to find someone to build us one we are once again looking for something and this might just be the ticket!

Having failed to find someone to build us one we are once again looking for something and this might just be the ticket! The bulkhead and chassis are sound - my brother (Street on here) did a couple of bits of welding not long back. I'll try to get pics but my uncle isn't the quickest at getting photos and computers are a complete mystery to him! ;D Where he lives there are massive speed humps so I can't take the car round to take photos myself (It's the humps that are too high rather than my car that's too low... ;D)

That's a beautiful, unmolested S2a. ;D Try sticking it up for sale here: www.landroveraddict.com/smf/Bets LR forum on the web IMHO, your best chance of ensuring it goes to a good home. I wish I had the money/space!!!

Thanks BD. I've put it on the Series 2 Owners Club forum, I'll do that one too.
