Whoa mama grab this little beasty quick! This belongs to a good bloke on DW. Don't be put off by all the random comments and the random prices posted. It is not yet sold. He genuinely wants it to go to a good home. He bought it for his girlfriend and she decided she doesn't like it! If you know your J-tin you'll know the the potential of this car. This is the easiest car to do a 4age or 20v swap! Way easier than a KE70.. ask Adam ;D It already has the gold dust T50 gear box and AE86 running gear. Don't be shy, give him a bell! www.driftworks.com/forum/drift-cars-sale-private-sales/39868-1982-toyota-carina.html#post503007from this.. to this..

What 'AE86 running gear' does it have?
I'm going to take a guess that it is equipped with 'AE86 running gear' in much the same way as a B-reg Sierra 1.6 Laser is equipped with 'cosworth running gear'.
Soz but the seller seems like a stereotypical wannabe drift cockstick.

As far as I know, this TA60 model was the last of the RWD Carinas. It had a 3T engine, which was a final incarnation of the T series, at 1800cc. As you will know xbo11ox, the T series originally came in 1400cc in the TA12 Carina, then available as the 2T which we know best at 1600cc. 2T was a fantastic engine, used throughout the 70s and into the 80s in the 1600cc Celicas. Sleek, smooth and powerful for an ohv engine, and very easy to work on. If I recall correctly you only need the move the engine into 2 positions to set all 8 tappets! Never experienced the 1800cc 3T version, but it should be nice. It came here in the TA47 Carina, which was basically a facelifted TA40 with square lights and stuff. It was also in the 1979 Corona which this is NOT! Corona and Carina are different cars. Carina was basically a Celica with a saloon body and usually a 4speed gearbox until TA47 got 5 speed, and presumably all TA60s like this one did as well.

Well on driftworks it says it has a 1600 2T engine. Maybe I was wrong but I thought all TA60s came with the 1800 3T.

So when he says this has AE86 running gear, does that mean it has the LSD??

Doubtful - it appears to have drum brakes too rather than the rear discs. I think Mr xBo11ox summed it up nicely I think 'AE86 interchangeable' would be more accurate?

I like this but don't have any space for it, and also don't want to pay the "new" price. The running gear means its a good car for a swap and you also have the benefit of all the suspension tuning available for AE86's at your disposal.
Could be very cool in the right hands.
