It is with deep, deep reluctance Ive got to get shot of, probably, one of the best cars I have ever had.
Shes a 96 SRI Ecotec Hatch which Ive had for almost a year, I got her from a friend of a friend when I moved back to the UK.
She drives superbly, is comfortable, fast and has been totally reliable, apart from a few niggles which I shall come to.
She is pretty much rot free, uses no oil, the tyres are tip top, she has a sunroof and, well I will do the summary in a mo.
She has a short MOT till September the 10th and is taxed to the end of that month. I don't, honestly anticipate any major aggro getting her through a new one.
I have found that she has started to idle erratically at times and the Engine management light has come on. One two occassions the car has momentarily lost power and then carried on like nothing has happened. I have cleaned out the idle control valve periodically which has stopped the problem. At the moment she is running superbly and hasnt been any problem.
An impending house purchase and an irate wife forces this sale.
What do I want for her? Well there is a figure that I will not go below ( I shall divorce the wife and elbow the house before I give her away) so I shall start at £375 and we will haggle from there.
Good Points:
Body work ( Virtually rot free )
Interior good
Engine strong, reliable, pulls well ( 125, three up and a boot full of luggage, she was still pulling
)
Tyres ( very good )
Alloys in sound condition
Sunroof
PAS
Leccy front windows
Lots of paperwork and history ( she has been looked after)
Bad Points:
Erractic Idle at times ( engine management light comes on)
Small blisters on O/S rear arch
Stone chips on Bonnet and the odd scratch
Bottom half of steering column cowling missing
Wear on drivers seat bolster
Drivers Leccy window not sitting in its channel properly ( you have to have a knack of pressing the window button a certain way to move it up and down
Mileage 137000 odd. Drives like it has half the mileage
Slightly different shade of Red on rear O/S quarter panel due to a respray when an LPG unit was removed.
Cant think of much else TBH.
