I have been trying for the last few weeks to ensure that I can keep my Acclaim, but after the quote for the work needed on my house and the fact that my free storage has been lost I am going to have to put her up for sale.
This really does break my heart as I have spent many hours working on this car and absolutely love driving her.
She is a 1983 Triumph Acclaim HL on a A plate, I have owned the car since last November, I bought the car of a chap in Telford who had owned and looked after the car for about 10 years previously.
When I bought it of ebay it had just failed its MOT on some welding and had been finally taken off the road after being used almost daily since new.
I had the welding done and after a quick play with the mixture in January she got a new MOT.
Since then I have racked up about 1000 miles which takes the total to around 50000, which on seeing the interior and going of the last 10 MOT's seems genuine.
The other work I have carried out since includes:-
New long section of the exhaust.
Treatment of the BL factory fit wheel arch rust.
Resolution of electrical gremlins. ( Still on going )
There are still some gremlins on the electrics but nothing to scary at the moment, there has also been a slight oli leak from the filter this is very slow but due to the weather over the last month I have been unable to change this.
Included in the sale is:-
the only known surviving Triumph Acclaim Driving Computer
Some retro fit fog lights
2 x oil filters
Various belts
An air filter
Various other random bits.
Original radio cassette and original push button radio
The MOT is till January and but the tax expires tomorrow. The car is in Stockport.
I am putting this up for sale for £250 but this must be to a good home and included all of the above, the car is still insured so for £310 I can provide the car taxed for 6 months.
As I say this really breaks my heart but I cannot see her rot away, please do not make me put this on ebay.
Since these pictures I have painted the wheels silver and sorted some of the paint work especially the bit on the rear quater, but this gives you a general idea. If you want a picture of anything specific let me know and I will sort it.
