Three cars down, two to go...next up to the block is my Mk2 Cavalier. I bought this back in March on a tipoff from Lankytim. I've done a fair bit of work to it and it's now got the best part of a year's MOT, but it's time for it to go.
Let's get the bad bits out of the way first:
Right - let's talk about the good bits then.
It's not an SRI 130 or a Calibre, but these 'cooking' models are getting rare. It stands me at about £450, but bearing in mind what Pog's Astra went for recently I'm looking for offers around £350 - cheap for anything with 11 months' ticket I reckon.

Car is in Newbury, Berkshire, and is available for viewing - PM me.

Let's get the bad bits out of the way first:
- The car has had a new nearside front wing - while the paint match is OK it's not perfect - see pics.
- It's also had a wee bit of welding in the past - the rear edge of the nearside sill and middle of the offside one, plus two plates on the front offside inner wing. Not invisible, but it has been topcoated.
- The tripmeter, electric boot release and radio don't work, and the dashboard has a couple of cracks on the top edge.
Right - let's talk about the good bits then.
- MOT until 15.6.08. Currently SORN'd, but it's still insured (eligible for classic insurance, I pay £80 a year!) so I can tax at cost.
- 100% solid. In addition to the two inner wing repairs, both front wings were taken off and the base of the A-pillars patched both sides - common Mk2 rotspots. Rear spring hangers, bulkhead, floorpan etc all fine.
- 2 previous owners from new - I bought it from the father-in-law who had owned it since '98. He was 97 and still driving...
- No dings or dents, a few touch-ups here and there, but let's face it, for it's age it looks damn good. It's not concours but I wouldn't be embarrassed to show it at Billing.
- Drives like a dream. It's done 115k miles but you'd never guess.
- £270 spent getting it through the MOT, mainly brakes (as it had only done 14 miles in 9 months when I bought it), exhaust, and a new tyre. Fair bit of paperwork (all my receipts + service book stamped to '96/98k miles), original brochure, Haynes Joke Book and bodywork repair book, plus all the handbooks.
- Superb green velour interior. Mmm!
- Being an '84 it has the 5-speed box and electric heated mirrors. Rear seat belts too.
- Tyres all have loads of tread.
- Original dealer numberplates, doesn't look like it's ever been biffed.
