Due to the split with my partner and me soon to be re-locating to a smaller house, regretably, I'm selling our hornet we was originally going to restore
Little story that goes with the car. It was originally owned by a couple who brought it brand new, since then it was only used locally (to the local shops once a week) until the lady was diagnosed with cancer in the early 80's. As he didn't want to drive it, they just stored it in there council garage. Unfortunatly, she died not long after, he didn't feel comfortable in driving it, so he just kept it locked up. A few years ago, the council decided they were going to rip down the garages, no matter what was in there, as he didn't have anywhere to keep it, he contacted us and we brought it off him.
Back to the details.
The Hornet has a 998cc engine with an original 22k miles The engine was was running when it was storted about a year ago, so I don't see why it won't start again with a charged battery, I would have tryed today if I had my battery pack with me.
The bodywork is in brilliant condition considering the age and everything is compleatly original. There is a bit of surface rust but it is just that. The rotton bits though are a hole on the bonnet, and a small bit under the one headlight. The underside looks compleatly solid, just drity, but you may want to have a poke around though, just to make sure.
It has a fantastic leather interior, the only thing that is needed is a headlining which was really grubby.
Anything that should be there and isn't (indicators, chrome, etc...) I have in a box in the garage and the bigger bits are in the spare room of my house.
The reason the minilites are on the front is because the original wheels (that have the original tyres ) are knackered. The minilites wouldn't fit on the back without spaceres, which I don't have.
The numberplate is valued at £2k, but that was about 3 years ago, so it is probably worth a bit more though.
Although I can't find it at the minute, it has a bit of history, the V5 is in my Ex's name, but it is at this address. Has the original service record too which was upto about 18k if I remember right.
On to the pictures
She (for some reason I don't have a say in this!) was £1200 for this lovely car. If you are interested, you can e-mail me on dan at retromoto dot co dot uk or PM me here
Cheers,
Dan.
