Well I'm off to China for a month and ive no need for this car now ive finished uni. So it needs to go ASAP. It has starting issues when warm, so I'm selling it as 'faulty'. I havnt been able to fix it, but I'm a monkey (just ask miniresource  ) 1985 Peugeot 205 GTI Bad PointsIntermittent Starting once engine has warmed up. So the main issue is you will need to fill up at a petrol station, then wait for the engine to cool before you can drive away lol - Comes with half a tank of fuel though The electric windows needs a new motor also. Has its rattles and a few untidy bits, but its 22 years old Other than these issues everything works as it should. Have you sold the car?
Apart from the warm starting issue are there any other machanical problems? Idles ok? No knocking from driveshafts? Does the engine smoke at all? etc etc

Hi Carl,
No the car isnt sold just yet, a few interested but nothing concrete yet. Ive owned the car since february, and as yet not had any issues other than this starting issue (typical when i want to sell it). Ive heard no knocking, and i havnt seen any smoke (but I'm driving, so its hard to see the exhaust).
The idle is ok, sometimes you need to blip the throttle to keep it running the first time you start it cold, but once its started it runs well.
Your more than welcome to pop over and take a look if you wish. I'm in Southampton until Sunday, if its still unsold i will most likely be driving it home to Coventry.

wth? £400 for a motd gti? its times like this moving to england would actaully save me money long term... Yea, if id have sold it a month ago when it had no problems id have got more. But now I'm going away to study and i have a mini also. So in order to keep both i have to park them on the road, meaning they need to be taxed. I cant afford to tax 2 cars when I'm not in the country. If i don't sell now its losing months on its MOT doing nothing so someone else may aswell have some use out of it while I'm gone. I only bought it as a run around for being at university, and I'm finished here now so its time for it to go. Its as cheap as it is because i need a quick sale. So in short....yea move to England and buy my car |

So in short....yea move to England and buy my car ah good, you could ask 3 times that here and let them talk you down a pound or two, easily. i'll see what i can do. i like lancashire. |

Lancashire? Ugh, I get a nose bleed going that far north Just went out filled up with petrol (Full Tank now, so if its not sold by Sunday, its coming back to Coventry with me). It started first time once id filled up, no quarms, fired up and off I went blink.gif . Decided to do a 25 mile random drive (just cos its so fun to drive) no problems driving, got back here, switched off the engine, tried it again..... fired up first time. No idea whats going on lol |

Think it's coil packs that cause the hot-starting issues with these. Mates I know with GTi BXs keep a spare with them at all times and can change them quicker than an F1 team change a wheel!

Hot starting issues with GTI's are usually starter solenoid or earthing issues. Also, theres a big brown multiplug on the gearbox that can play havok if its dirty or corroded. I passed your number on to a couple of people that may be interested Tom. |

somebody is going to get a bargain. nice looking set of half leathers, from sorento limited ed I assume?. Ive got no idea lol! They were in it when i bought it. They are nice, but they are old so have some wear on them. |

Car now in Coventry
130 miles the drive home, switched off the engine, tried to restart.... fired up first time! lol
The driver side wiper blade seems to be sticking however, probably not good.
