I've been feeling guilty about claiming on my insurance for the hit-and-run that someone did , particularly as the car is likely to be written off. So ... anyone interested in the following:
1992 Saab 9000 2.0i CD saloon, manual, dark metallic green. Private plate. Bought last week from an ex-director of the Saab Owners Club. His photos of the car are at:

It's done 165,000 miles and drives lovely. The car's been pampered all it's life - previous owner was a 2 Stroke to Turbo mechanic and it's been Saab mechanic maintained. I've got past MOT's but no service history - but I phoned the mechanic to confirm work done. It's had a service for the latest MOT 600 miles ago, there are new brakes and 3 of the tyres are new. It's got 4 electric windows, electric mirrors, heated seats, etc. There's currently a tow-bar and a Panasonic face-off CD player too. I've replaced it with a 2.3 turbo model and this 2.0 handles much better.
But ... last week someone hit the side. It's had a bad scrape down the side, possibly by a wagon as it's at the 3-foot level. It's not structural and is only a visual aspect, not affecting the doors or electric windows. The rear light has the top of it off, but still works since only the outer layer's broken. In addition the electric mirrors pushed out but not broken. I've been offered two doors (in white) for free and the mirror/light would cost a total of £50 if you really wanted to replace them.
In addition there's a leak from the clutch slave/master cylinder. You could either keep topping it up, use a gearbox seal or do the job. I'm still driving it so it still works as is.
Before I do the insurance claim, or weigh it in for scrap, is anyone interested? The plate's been valued at £200 to me if sold. It's also currently taxed until the end of the year. Scrap value is over £100 and I'd probably remove the wheels, CD-player, towbar and other bits there's another £100 there.
Oh, and I forgot to add; it's been featured in two of the local papers this week, trying to find the person who hit it
I didn't pay much for the car, so I'm open to offers. Tel: 07816-131166. Collection from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire or I'm happy to travel if needed.
