Right, I am not a car dealer (I'd go broke as I never make any money when I sell my cars : , but here's another cheap daily for you as I downsize my fleet...will be available by the end of this week, once the friend of my wife who has been using it finally picks up her new Golf GT TDI, what a comedy of errors the purchase of that has been. What can I say about this wonderful little example of J-Tin? It's been doing 100 miles a day for the last two months and hasn't missed a beat, getting 40 to the gallon too. I have been told it will top the ton but I don't believe her. 5-speed manual. - 55,000 miles
- MOT to 1.11.07
- Tax to 31.10.07
- Had (in the last 6 weeks) new cambelt, full service (oil + filter, air filter, spark plugs), new front brake pads, offside CV boot, and spare tyre (Pirelli P3000)
Nothing electrically-operated whatsoever, so nowt not working. Even has a Philips RDS stereo. Plus nice little Japanese touches such as remote boot and fuel filler release. Brown tweed interior like new! Bodywise there is absolutely no rust on this car at all, unbelievable really. I believe it has had a caring OAP owner for much of it's life (4 previous owners in total - the guy I bought it off had it for two months while his Opel Monza was being restored ), although there is no history prior to me buying it. All the mileometer digits line up though, and the general condition leads me to believe the mileage is genuine. Even has the original dealer window sticker and numberplates, plus two keys. Only downsides are two dinks on the front and rear offside wheelarches (tight garage, Grandad? ;D) and a small indentation in the rear bumper, but I will try and straighten this before it's sold. The parcel shelf has been cut for two speakers. Oh, and there's no PAS so it's quite heavy to steer at parking speeds - but I've gone soft these days (of my other cars, only the Mk2 Cav doesn't have PAS, and I haven't driven that since the end of March so I've forgotten how heavy that is, too). Decent matched tyres (Dunlop SP4), and the only advisory on the last MOT was on the brake pads, which I've changed. There's another set in the glovebox and a spare set of bolts for the calipers. Also has the owner's handbook and Haynes manual. Basically, you can drive this car for the next 5 and a half months without having to spend out on anything other than on petrol. And I wouldn't be surprised if it went through the next MOT needing nothing (or very little), either. £200, as it stands me at a little more than that. Can be viewed evenings in Basingstoke.

Tell you what mr Welfare.
These are cracking and bullet proof. If I did not hav a comfy company car tomorrow, I know where I would spend my wad (and a tiny one at that) of cash.
I hope someone takes it, these cars do 100k without blinking an eye In South Africa they were so good and successful that they were sold after the new 323 was introduced as a "Sting" or "Midge" catering for budget market drivers, who then got a small car for the price of a super mini.

Grizz, I think you would find driving one of these everyday not a hardship, but a bit of a culture shock after your C-Class. I know it's very different to my Saab 9-3!
In fact, the lady in question sold an SLK320 and I then acquired this beast for her to drive. She has put up with it for 8 weeks - and we've looked at dozens of Golf and A3 TDIs since then - but she has finally found a suitable one and is keen to move on!
That said, the Mazda is a little cracker. I understand in SA this is standard practice to retain the old model in the price listings, same for the Toyota Corolla (Tazz) and Mk1 (Citi) Golf.
This little fella will last an awful long time yet. To my mind, for 200 notes it's a whole heap of reliability and better than (dare I say it!) the Cavalier I have just sold...!

If the boot was a fraction larger I'd have ripped your arm off for this.
Half tempted you know, I coped with an AX for work for 3 weeks.....
Anyway, let me know about the Chavalier and we'll see what happens...

The boot is not small - not quite as big as the Cavalier's but still pretty commodious. Definitely bigger than a Fabia's!
You're more than welcome to come along and view with your tape measure if need be!

Well if the Cav goes, I'll take it. I doubt it'll be of any help, but I can collect it from Basingstoke when convenient if that helps?

Should be easier - I was going to bring it home first to give it a clean and polish, but I can do that onsite. Might even give it a going over with my birthday present (a Porter Cable 7424) if the weather holds up! It's in Chineham. EDIT: Cav now gone - you have PM!

I gree, the Mazda is sufficiently lar(d)ge in the posterior. Seats drop down as well.
Yes, Mr Welfare, the Mazda Midge and Sting were known for their longevity.
£200 = Halfords 21 speed bicycle.

Hopefully yes - spazdaguy will be taking delivery of it on Sunday all being well. Illuminated furry dice can be left in, for a small fee BC - well, I paid £160 for the car, probably spent £20 on service parts (cambelt was a £5 eBay find, and so easy to fit even I could do it), £5 on a new spare wheel and tyre (another eBay bargain), and £20 for a jack and wheelbrace from the scrappy. Plus £60 for another 6 months' tax. So it stands me in about £265. But I went with £200 because I had no idea how to value it...it's quite tricky when you have something old/obscure like this. On eBay it would probably only make about 47p, anyway...(and cost me £25 in listing and FVF). I probably made a couple of rounds of drinks on the Cavalier though...but it wasn't as nice a car as the Mazda. Interestingly our postman took a look at it but decided for £295 he expected something "a bit newer"

Heh - I'll remove the Mazda from my sig once it's gone and paid for I might yet torch the Omega though, if I can't get it to stop leaking oil - probably my fault for clouting the surrounding area of the alternator with a big hammer to try and free the curse word off when changing the knock sensor a couple of months ago I do still have the Mk2 Cav though - never updated the sig for the Mk3 because I knew it wasn't a keeper!
