OK, anyone need a cheap daily?
1993/K Cavalier 1.6i LS hatchback. I bought this cheaply recently as a 'backup spare' (if you know what I mean), my brother was using it for a couple of weeks while I sold his 740. My wife is beginning to grumble about the amount of cars round here, so...
Dark blue (Kings Blue they call it, non-metallic) with light grey cloth interior. It cleaned up pretty well, a few dings here and there (touched-in scrape on the driver's door, a couple of small dents) and the seats have a couple of tiny rips. It's not showroom condition, but for the age/mileage/price it's pretty damn good. No rust that I can find, either (and I was underneath it to change the fuel filter!) - not bad for a Luton-built one.
Since I bought it a month ago it's had a full service (oil & filter, air filter, spark plugs, fuel filter, cam cover removed and breathers cleaned, new cam cover gasket) using Vauxhall parts, the CD player fitted, a set of proper Vauxhall wheeltrims (none of that Halfrauds curse word here, I thank you) and a damn good cleanup.
It drives pretty well, the engine is as smooth as you like. Not much in the way of previous service history I'm afraid, the previous owner had it serviced every year by a friend, with the cambelt done 2 years ago (apparently). He had it 7 years, buying it off a colleague. I don't know who owner no.2 was, but the first owner was BT (company car!).
As to be expected there are a few faults, namely:
But that's it. If you need something cheap and disposable, this could fit the bill. I've just come back from the Beaulieu Spring Autojumble (120 mile round trip) and it was fine, no oil or water used. Seems to be good on petrol, too.
£200 will buy this car - think of it as £20 for each remaining month of MOT It's going in the FreeAds on Wednesday at £295 (and has 'For Sale' signs in it on my drive at the mo) so it may go at any time. Don't worry, I'll be piling the money into my Granada, so it's in a retro cause ;D

As to be expected there are a few faults, namely:
- The revcounter is reading about 1500rpm too fast. Quite entertaining as you can get the needle to touch the speedo needle in 1st gear!
- Idles a bit high (probably about 1300rpm) in any case - I've cleaned the idle stepper motor, but a new one is £30 on eBay if it really bothers you. Doesn't affect the way it drives once underway
- Interior light doesn't work (it did yesterday!), and the lights for the heater controls don't either
- Electric aerial doesn't go all the way down
