Hi all
After a lot of thinking, I'm selling my pride and joy Mini 35
I have spent a serious amount of money on the car in the 4½ year I have owned it (and have all the paperwork to prove it, its been about 5k!) and to be honest, I could easily spend another £1k on bits that it doesn't need just because I want to keep it looking as good as posible, even though I never drive it which is a bit stupid of me.
On to the details...
Body
It is a 1994 Mini 35 Limeted Edition in Arizona Blue. I had a full respray in 2004 and a load of panels changed due to the inevitable rot and it's had a new floor put in about 2 years ago. As it stands today, there is no rust or rot anywhere on the car. A-panels, valanced, doors, sills, all the usual mini places are tip-top. Paint it in fantastic condition too, there is a few small stone chips around, but I should be getting these sorted before the final sale, my friend is spraying a seam moulding for me so I will ask him to touch up the chips.
It has 4 minilites on it (not sure if there genuine or not, but I know 2 of them are the rarer ones with the holes in a slightly different place) with great tyres on, I think they've only done a few hundred miles. There is a slight air leak on the front o/s wheel, but it takes about a month for it to go flat, but never goes down if driving round.
Engine
The engine is a carb 1275 engine (not the original engine due to a fire years back, it is a 1991 engine though if IIRC) with a stage 1 fitted. It has a K&N cone filter on and a straight thru exaust that was custom built by a mini specialist about 2 years ago and was put on a rolling road. I can't remember the exact figure, but I think it was about 68bhp, although I could be wrong. In the past year it has had a new radiator and water pump due to the originals being rusty.
Interior
I have kept all the original interior in, except for the carpet (see below), becasue of it being a limited edition. I have recently put a brand new Newton Commercial carpet in because after the fire, the previous owner just put in one of the cheap ones. There is a two clock walnut dashboard with 3 extra guage holes. There is currently a clock, oil pressure (not connected) and a tacho in place. A black leather mountny steering is in, but I also have the original. There is a brand new Blaupunkt CD/MP3 player installed and 2x 6" Kenwood speakers on the parcal shelf, although I do have 2x Kenwood 4¼ speakers to go in the front.
At present, it doesn't have any tax and MOT, but I will at 12 months MOT and 6 months tax on it too. I will also leave with the car some Mini 35 bits and pieces (original books, leaflets, etc...) that I used to use when doing concours.
All in all it is a fantastic mini and I will be very sad to see it go. I just feel it isn't right to keep the car locked up in the garage all the time.
Right, price... Well to be honest, I'm not sure what it's worth. I know how much I want, but no one would pay it So I think I will start at £2.5k ono. The car is currently insured for £4k though to give you an idea. At the minute Mini 35's arn't the most sort after limited edition mini, but I think they will be in the not too distant future.
If you have any questions or would like some more pictures, but give me a shout on here, PM or my e-mail address is dan AT retromoto.co.uk (you know what to do with the e-mail )
On to the pictures then. I will post a picture of how the car was when it was all together and the following ones are how it is at the minute. But it will all be finished for the buyer
