I've been reading the buyers guide in this months Retro Cars mag on the Starion and am tempted by it. I did a nationwide search on Autotrader for the cars and found only one listed but thankfully this turned out to be at a garrage just up the road from me. The car I looked at was very overpriced for it's condition but I like the actual car and am warming to the idea. What does anyone else think to these cars? Is owning one a good idea? Considering they sell for Escort Series 2 RS Turbo money they seem like a real bargain! Might have to consider selling one of my fleet and getting one.

I'll take all that as a green light then! ;D
I am a little concerned however at the fuel consumption issue which will require further investigating.
The one I looked at was advertised at £1999. It is a wide body 2.6 in red but is overpriced for it's condition. The shell was pretty solid around the sills but the joints at the sill ends were starting to go and there were a few bulges between the body kit. Drivers seat was trashed (as usual) and the interior and door cards were all flapping due to some careless stereo instal in the past. Plus the dealer is a cowboy and I wouldn't recomend buying anything from him.
GJM, my first 'tina was a 1.6L mk5 Estate in white. Cool car but a bit spartan. You need at least a 2.0ltr though and check the front jacking points and boot door shut. A full deflex bush set will cost you just shy of £100 including subframe bushes but is well worth it if you can afford it.
MrSigma, What are you doing with the engine then? is it for a starion or have you something else up your sleeve?

Really? I thought they were much the same engine but with different capacities. I was going to remove the cats and prehaps fit a megasquirt ECU
