I fancy getting a car thats slightly different and was looking back at the other cars I have owned. The skoda Estele jumped out at me and I wondered if they are still easy to get hold of. I want something with a bit of poke as well though so any advice on engine conversions would be good as well.
Also how much do they go for now, last time I paid £80 for one with a full MOT and 6 months tax is this still the case??
Thanks for your help.
Poostix2003@hotmail.com or john.grimshaw@indesitcompany.com but the second one is my work's e-mail so if its a weekend I may not reply for a while.

check out ebay regularly, and also, they sometimes appear on the www.skodarapid.com message board. also check www.sko-forum.com. good luck. they're great cars. they don't go for a great deal. Sub £500.

I'll check up on those sites. cheers for the info I I know what you mean when I was looking for my last one there was one for sale round every corner for sub £100 now you have to pay £500+ for a decent one. but for the right car I'd go above that. I'm looking at a max of about £2K but it has to be good for that price. Again I'm looking for a good exaple preferably with a decent engine conversion. I heard about one guy putting a 2 litre alpha engine and one guy that put a golf engine in?? Any suggestions.

to be honest id steer clear of engine conversions( 2ltr fiat twink 1760 Xflows alfas etc) becouse of the handeling problems it throws up think pendulum and youll get my drift stick to just uprating to a 136 rapid motor theres plenty of scope for tuning (upto 120bhp) and bits for the 136 motor go all the way up to 2002 felica with the mpi dizzy less motor my own personal car has (now) got a 2001 felly motor fast road cam twin 40 dcoms etc 100 bhp + easy andy

Well you are a couple of weeks too late for my RX7 engined Estelle, that was literally suicide on wheels. It was so stupidly fast I couldnt help but scare myself sh*tless every journey. Sold it for about £1450 in the end, but that was MOTd, Taxed, and had a massive folder of history and a magazine feature.

Total profit = -£60 Yeah and so did numerous other skoda 'fans'... but surprise surprise none of them actually wanted to bid for it. I left it on because the number of times I have had people offer me £x and then diappear into the mists is phenomenal.

;)Skoda Estelle's don't have a lot of poke but are still great fun to drive enthusiastically. 8-)The fact that you don't need to be doing neck breaking speeds to enjoy the drive is one of their many good points IMHO. Definately keep the Skoda engine, as already said they are relatively easily modified for more power. I would imagine a heavier engine would make the tail end a bit too happy to wag for your own safety! Pogweasel, was it an R-R member that bought your car? Just wondered what's happening with it.

Cheers for the help, I've decided to go for 1 good car and a project now. I'm going to put down around £5500 on an FTO and about £500 on a Skoda. I'll keep my eyes out for a decent one the sites suggested.
And I'll let you all know how it goes. I'm hoping the insurance from my write off will come through in the next week so should be looking in the middle of next month.
