Hi, does anybody fancy a Rustang for spares or repairs? 1981 Ford Mustang Ghia coupe, right-hand drive, 3.3-litre straight-six, C4 auto, no tax/test, on SORN. It starts, runs, drives, steers, stops ... otherwise it's a right shed. Leaky sunroof means carpets have been soaked, so I took 'em out and threw 'em away. Found rot in LH floor and A-pillar, plus top of door frame. It's in Stockport, and nearest bid to £100 gets it. I have photos, but they're BIG ... 1mb. PM me your email and I'll try to send 'em, or call me on 0771 535 0259

Just in case anyoe was wondering... the only sensible way to V8 these is to use another Fox as a donor, a mates just done it and you need the whole front subframe, crossmembers, suspesnion is different, trans tunnel, rad, rad mounts, even the dash is different!
However, this is a good oportunity for someone to make an aussie Cortina XLE clone. straight 6, heavy duty axle etc etc. and the trailing arms are similar layout etc to the stock Cortina ones. Nightmares has done this swap. probably easy worth £100 for that axle let alone anything else.

The rear axle is a stock cruiser-geared four-stud Ford-pattern type - I think the gears are something like 2.73:1 on an open diff, drum brakes. I have two sets of original wheels for it, too - they're the damn TRX metric ones, though...

different ratios are available as are LSDs and the like. Its still the 8.8 in these isn't it or is there an 8" in the early Fox? I forget. Either way a good axle for a suitable project

I think the earliest Foxes - they began in 1979 - had a 7.5in. ring gear, and only the V8s and later models had the 8.8s ... please don't quote me on that though! One thing that I also have (at extra cost) is a brand-new, never-fitted 6-2-1 tubular manifold for the Ford straight-six, ending in a nice 3in. collector. I bought this before considering the fact that it won't fit a right-hand driver because the column is in the way - duh

Hmmm, I know nothign of the 7.5 so I may add a caveat to my original enthusiastic posting!
