1.8 8v out of a mk2 jetta, can be heard running, low mileage for age 80,000miles (from a 1990 car)
Starts first time, no smoking, pulls well,
gearbox engages all gears fine, no crunching or jumping out of gear.
£90 for engine and box?

i beleive so. The mounts etc definitely are.
There will be complications such as the fuel return if you intend on putting it in a carbed car (as standard) though.
if its a Gti is will also have a higher lift cam and increased CR IIRC
