Hi There, Our faithful 1993 Mazda 121 "Bubble" is suffering from advanced tin worm infestation in the petrol tank and I'm looking to either repair or replace the tank soon.
Does anybody yout there have a nice rust free tank for sale?
I'm also led to believe that the petrol tank from the Mazda Demio is the same unit.
I have photos of the petrol tank somewhere if we need to double check.
p.s. this is not the Fiesta version of the 121 or the Kia Pride edition.

I love those, is it a 'sun top'?

Judging by the pic I`d say it is, I had one in last summer the roof is wicked, it slides forward as well as back so you can just have the back open. Weird model range when new - theres only 2 models listed in the glass`s guide - suntop, manual, PAS or normal roof, no PAS, auto. That was it.
Is the fuel tank the same as the earlier boxy 121? If so theres millions of Kia Prides in the scrappers which are the same car.

I think the Kia Pride version is different unfortunately This is actually a J-Spec version which I imported from Hong Kong back in 1997/98 for my mother. It's been a great little car and has a few differences compared to the UK model. You can probably see the additional spoiler on the rear roof section and it comes with automatic, PAS, air-conditioning. The mirrors are also a different shaps as well. There used to be one of he same colour around this area (not a soft top though) but it has disappeared now) - as far as I'm aware it's the only one for miles around as I can't remember seeing one for quite a long time. There is actually a sister model to this car made called a Kia Avella which is was also rebadged as the Ford Aspire in the USA. They are hatchback versions with an 8 valve engine.

It is indeed the sun-top or fun-top edition It is my intention to keep this car for the long haul due the "relative" rarity factor. I'll probably end up doing an engine upgrade/swap and different wheels ect though as well

I'm going to be back in the UK next Saturday and will be heading down to Manchester. If anybody down that way knows the whereabouts of a petrol tank in good order (down that way) that would be much appreciated as I can pick it up

Well I never made it back to the UK yet!
But still looking for a replacement tank.
Any place online to look for a cheap new tank if no chance of a decent used one?
