it is with extreme regret that we have to sell our pride and joy, if things were different this would not be happening! and i apologise for the scene tax (i don't make the rules!)
1965 1200 6 volt bug called Heidi, 1 previous owner who had her from 65 till spetmeber 2004 when we rescued her from a certain death. The owner was too old to drive her any more at 85 and the council told him that he had to move it or lose it!
When we got her home we found she had had very little work over the years and from what the old chap said the mileage was genuine at 45k! We tidied her up and despite being sat for 18 months went through a mot first time. we used her for a year after that then decided to strip her, paint her and renew what we needed to, she still wore crossply tyres!
so she was stripped to bare metal and sprayed in original java green. and with the rebuild came a glut of new parts:
window rubbers
chrome trim
new seat covers and door cards
new carpet
wing beading
side trim
running boards
heater cables
stainless steel bumpers
exhaust
6v battery
etc
etc
etc
we have over 2 grands worth of reciepts for the stuff she had, none of it mechanical. we recently had all the brakes redone, everything was replaced by fasbackerdez and now stops bang on. nothing has been done to the engine except general servicing that she gets every 3K miles.
the only thing that wasnt replaced was the headlining, this was only because it is the original and holds some character for the car.
This is my wifes daily and is super reliable, warm and comfortable. she has a hidden stereo in the glovebox running off a 12v converter with hidden 6x9 speakers in the shelf.
tax till may 08 (free) and mot till oct 08
looking for £3.5 grand for her but would happily px for a mk3 golf.
