Thinking of buying this as a new Retro Ride! Tis a Toledo fitted with a Sprint front end, Suziki Swift GTI seats, a 1500TC engine from a Spit and god knows what else. Apparently it's all been very nicely done! If it's in good nick (tax'd and mot'd) I'm gonna smoke round in it till I re-mot my 1850HL and sell that on, then stick a V8 or V6 in the nose of the Tolly ;D Had considered a 2000/2500 straight six but will be too far forward and kill what handling it has. Well, auction ends tomorrow so will see Then i'll put a flag on it like my sprint had And start turning into a nightmarish dragster

Seems like a good project! You could always go for a 3.5 Rover in the front there, or a bigger one if you like, from a Range Rover or similar. That'd definately be lighter than the Triumph six cylinders, it's still within the BL family, and it's a good engine with a good spares backup, there are lots of companies that specialise in uprating Rover V8s too.

I'm starting to think the S2000 engine could be cool too, it'd be light as well, and they do make a nice noise! ;D ;D

That toledo is cool, it was winking at me too (finally hoiked the engine out of my 827 today). Think i'll wait till i've got the rwd box glued on first before I buy anything to put it in though.

Monsoir plums...
In one of my 'OMG! ENGINES ON THE BAY!' threads a while back I found a few - one was in the region of £800 inc. loom, gearbox and axle.

Rover dropped the rover lump in the early/mid nineties.
They used the AJPV8 - their own design based around what they learned with the old Buick design. Their stright-6 is a divine lump though...Would love to drop one in an E30 Bimmer...
