Right here's the crack. I've got myself a mk2 Passat, so need to shift the golf. Ideally it'll stay for another week or so, until I get the bad bits of the passat fixed, but if it has to go, it will.
The car is no showroom, concourse car. In fact it's pretty bastardised, but it's a f*cking awesome car. It's by far the most reliable, comfy, ecomomical, fastest car I've ever used daily.
The Spec:
- 1991 5 door Mk2 Golf Ryder (small bumper)
- Tornado Red
- Sunroof (doesnt leak!)
- 1800 GTI engine - injection removed and weber DMTL carb fitted
- 5 Speed GTI gearbox
- 14" GTI Steelies
- 4 very good tyres - 2 have done about 8k at the most, but the others still have loads of tread on too. All are Pirellis.
- Lowered 40mm/60mm
- Stainless exhaust system from the manifold downpipe back
- Debadged front grill
- Crystal headlights
- Crystal/Red rear lights
- Genuine towbar
- GTI dials (so it's got a rev counter)
- Taxed till March
- MOT till March, but I'm more than happy to put 12 months ticket on at the buyers cost (of the ticket obviously). I know it would go straight through so...
The engine had the valve stem seals, head gasket and cambelt done 10k ago. I serviced it just after I got it, 14 months ago, then serviced it again in November (oil, filters, plugs etc) - It's also had new coolant and expansion tank after the old expansion tank rubber seal got abit tired.
The engine runs spot on. Not the slightest bit of smoke.....ever.
Does an average of 33-34mpg with mixed driving, but i've had up to 38 on a run
The bodywork isn't mint. It's got 15 years of stone chips and sunlight, but its 99.999% rust free. The only bit of rust I've ever found is round the LHD wiper blank plug, and it's just surface, not rot!
The interior is in pretty good nick. It's not worn or ripped on any of the seats and everything works. Nice and clean.
Insurance is cheap too, as they insure it as a driver (well a ryder with a driver motor)
The only downside is that I have no idea how many miles the engine has actually done, nor do I have much history, but I can assure you it runs and drives absolutely faultlessly. In fact if anyone were to buy it, I'd deliver it to them anywhere in the country, provided they pay for the train fare home
I understand that pictures are vital and I will sort some ASAP. I just need to find time to get some in the light! (Should be able to get some at the weekend)
All questions are welcome - nothing to hide
