Ex military Chevrolet Sportwagon, 5.7L V8 Auto injection, with overdrive. Very good condition, runs and drives like a dream! Only 56k miles, so barely run in for such a capable vehicle. Carries anything, and tows anything with ease. Good on petrol for its size due to the overdrive and injection system - Id say it is about equal to a fully loaded VW camper on a run as long as its driven sensibly.
Originally this had provision for 15 seats, 4 rows in the back. At some point, the rear seat has gone AWOL, so currently has seating for 11, including the driver, all with Seatbelts. I usually run it with 2 rows of seats, not 3 (They just clip in!) as its insured and taxed as a normal car, so can carry a max of 8 people legally. Very cheap to insure with Footman James as its ex military - costs me £118 per year, unlimited mileage! Ive driven it for about 7000 miles in the past year, including a trip to the Classic Le Mans for 8 people, over 1000 miles in 1 weekend all in. Didnt miss a beat, despite the amount of Duty Free we managed to bring back!
Totally solid, with absolutely no rust issues. Excellent Chrome bumpers, and aluminium side steps. Paint is overall in good nick, but could do with some touch ups to make perfect. New windscreen in July due to a stone chip.
Bad points - one of the side windows on the rear door has been replaced with Perspex, so the tint is missing from that - It was intended to be a temporary fix, but havent got round to sorting it. Also, the headlining is sagging in places, so needs to be taken down, and re-attached. Carpets need a good shampoo. Apart from that, interior is all in good nick, and is very comfortable for long journeys. We have certainly had fun in it!
