Attention "creatives!" I need some inspiration. Any ideas for a colour scheme for my 1966 Singer Chamois (Hillman Imp) sprint/hillclimb car? It is to be painted soon and I need to tell the guy what colour(s) to put it in for me. It'll be a road legal racer, with Superlite alloys, de-chromed, etc. He tells me that it'd be more saleable (IF I ever sell it!) if it were in a genuine Rootes shade from the 1960s. Opinions? I'd like it in something like a deep mid-blue, preferably metallic, with a stripe down the sides, probably in pure white. Maybe even like a Lotus Cortina Mk 1. But I am open to ideas! I'd prefer it to be individual. If it's been done, I'm less inclined to copy someone else! But I do kinda like blue and white. SUGGESTIONS?? And please don't say go out and get a real car!! ;D I'm

go out and get a propercar!lol maybe you could go for a bright yellow colour and put a black stripe down the side and black arches like a britax cooper but you could change it to rover tahiti blue and maybe a platinum stripe or you could go for the ford gt blue and white viper stripes would look nice with the white rally spots and numbers on the side.but to change it a bit you could do them off-set over the drivers side.or a fat stripe and a thin stripe. robin

Not sure, there are a few colours that Imps look good in, I quite like signal red, which is what mine will be, but I like lots of other stuff. You know what you could do? Go on here... www.theimpclub.co.ukGo on the photo archive, and there should be plenty of Imps in various colours, you might see one that suits you, it's just a matter of taste really.

My fave colour for the Imps (since I'm usual stuck to the Imp Club forums ;D ) has to be that dark blue - purpuly colour, looks very very very nice.

Guys!! Those schemes are too cool! LOL!!! ;D ;D ;D Lovin' that slammed, in the weeds look! Thinking of going low. Even lower than the Monte Carlo springs it's got already. Hmmm... Blue is my fave, but others might contend. Yellow, orange, certain greens... Red less so (sorry Revolution#9!), but... White is joint favourite, with nice garish side flashes. Car used to be Oxford blue and Polar white two tone, so might try to preserve some of its racing pedigree. Not fussed on blue over white or vice versa, though. She's been a racer for the best part of two decades, apparently! Full details and history, plus photos, will be posted when I have the pix to share with my excellent RR mates! I do have some pix of the work in progress kicking about here somewhere. I'll sort 'em out and post 'em sometime. Meanwhile, keep those ideas coming in! I'm

Heres my personal opinion, please tell me to curse word off if need be ;D The stripes, they are simply BB4 Nova territory! Stay away. Surely a George Bevan scheme would be great? It's not as if every Imp owner does it, like e.g. Scooby 555 replicas or the Gulf colour scheme. Do for one of the following I think! Fraser........ in colour Bevan........

Thanks for all your suggestions! There's a lot of talent out there. I have (almost) certainly decided on the colour of the car shown in the photo at www.theimpclub.co.uk/index.php?page=3&smartor_mode=album_showpage&pic_id=1051. It's Gerry Richards' sprint car. If mine ended up looking like this, I'd be extremely happy! It just looks right. Apparently, it's the colour that Rootes used for their works racers too! Even better! I'm
