I'm selling my '73 1300 Beetle (with 1600tp engine) due to not having the required time to give it the attention it needs and having another resto project to concentrate on.
Basically, it was MOT'd in May 2005 after a long stint (about 4 years) off the road. To get it through the MOT it had over £500 quids worth of welding and minor electrical work carried out and a second hand 1600tp engine was fitted to replace the old 1600 that has seized.
In the 4 years off the road it was garaged for approx 95% of the time and was garaged again after the last MOT but unfortunately I had to use the garage for storage and parked the Beetle on the street. Soon afterwards, someone drove into it while it was parked up (and drove off again without leaving any info) and damaged the front bumper and both front wings. As you can see from the pics, this isn't major but it has pushed one of the wings away from the body ripping the captive nuts out in the process.
At roughly the same time the engine decided not to start and I haven't had the time to solve the problem. It's probably something very simple and if I get the time or it doesn't sell I wil try to sort it out. The engine turns over fine but doesn't fire. I've since fitted a new coil, condensor and 2 x spark plugs and have got another 2 plugs and points ready to fit.
There are other cosmetic bits that will either need sorting or just drive as it is. The drivers door has rust along the bottom edge (covered by duct tape to please the MOT man) and the front clip (valance and spare wheel well) also needs replacing although it does still hold the spare wheel. I have a good condition spare drivers door and bonnet in the same colour ready to be fitted, along with a new front clip.
The Sprintstars have been sold and are therefore not included in the sale.
MOT and tax expired at the end of May (currently SORN'd).
Basically just needs a little bit of attention to make it roadworthy.
I keep toying with the idea of keeping it but I really don't have the time to get it sorted and I could do with the space in my garage, so it's got to go
