On behalf of my dad. A project that never got started and now forced to sell.
A Reliant Scimitar GTE with a wacking great 3 litre V6 engine, with overdrive.
It has been sitting idle for a few years so hence not roadworthy, (you would need to tow/trailer etc.) but I'm not exactly sure what needs doing.
He is looking for offers around £150 as it must be worth that in parts alone.
He really would like this to go to a good home and preferably be restored. He'd hate it to go to someone who will just cut it up for the sake of it, so an enthusiast would be great.
If anybody is interested PM me with your number and I'll put you in touch with my Dad. I can be around to show you the car if you arrange with me first. It's located about 5 miles south of Chelmsford, Essex.

Sounds good though, those V6's can be nicely tuned, specialised engines do plenty mods on em, Getting ideas BC?

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Gotta be worth the money being asked so long as the chassis is OK. Well, even if not, its worth more than that as parts.

looks in good shape, the sills look pretty strait - they have metal inserts in them because they reached a point that they where making them at such a rate they where taking them out of the moulds when they wernt fully set - this made them distort, so reliant added some steel in which rots badly and makes the sills bulge and there is nothing you can do about it. once they are bulged you an live iwth it or bin it.
£150 is about right, £500 will get you one on the road, and £1200 will get you a good one.
good luck with the sale, I'm sure someone on here must want one??

even got air in the tyres which for a garden car is unusual  I don't recall dad pumping them up but I'll have to ask now! I think it's been like that for as long as I can remember! "Do you not fancy tinkering with it alfietinker? I would be if I were you!" Unfortunately not - lack of drive space and lack of knowledge - I'm only just starting to figure out my bug! I do feel guilty though - dad restored my Beetle instead of the Scimitar and now time has run out. "£150 is about right, £500 will get you one on the road, and £1200 will get you a good one." We've got a couple of people asking to view so hopefully something will come of it. It has to be gone in about 7 weeks as the house is empty and just been sold. If dad can't find space for it at his new place then the scrappy may beckon There may be a little lee-way on the price....

Well talking to dad last night he's going to do all he can not to scrap it, even if it means giving it to an enthusiast. I'm going to try one of the owner's clubs too. We may well try ebay as a last resort. It's not the enthusiasm, he would still love the car but he feels it's too much to take on with everything else he has to do at the moment. His wife is not too keen on having a redundant car sitting in the garden. He may well get an 'on the road' car in the future. Can I just make a polite suggestion to anyone interested? A potential buyer asking to view last night never showed up If anybody is serious about looking at the car, please please please I would appreciate you letting me know if you can't make it. We wasted a whole evening last night, my dad came down from Felixstowe (90 minute drive) and we had a 40 mile round trip to meet these phantom viewers. All it takes is one phone call to stop us hanging around for 3 hours and getting ever so slightly peeved. And Locoster, if we could transport it to you we would! Do you not know anyone with an A-frame?
