I have a 1982 Silver Manual Volvo 240 GLT Saloon currently sitting in my workshop that we have kept since my dad stopped using it as a 2nd car, in about 2000!!
It was kept at our bungalow, either in the garage or under the carport until we sold the bungalow recently, so we don't know what to do with it, but cannot see it go to waste!
We always planned on doing something with it, converting to a historic rally car, or something crazy like T5'ing it!! It was my dad's everyday car from about '88 to '96, he's been a Volvo enthusiast and owner for years, and this has only covered around 140k and was every bit the 2.3 150bhp RWD beast you'd expect it to be! ;D
It has a very nice full black leather interior and metallic silver bodywork, which to say the least has stood up well to the test of time! My uncle came over from Canada in about '99 and used it as it was as i say my dad's 2nd car, but unfortunately was side swiped by another stooopid road user! It has a bit of a gouge down he n/s rear door and quarter, but wouldn't take much to sort. It even has it's 15" dished rims, with P6000's all round, plenty of tread! Also has a few bubbles in the paint although only in the paint, but it does have a few patches of rustappearing, but nothing like you'd expect, and is solid underneath!
I have recently checked it all over and given it a good clean, turned the engine over manually and checked and cleaned all the plugs, leads dizzy, coil etc, put some oil in the bores and turned it over, then tried to start it but i suspect the fuel pump(s) are not working as it is getting no fuel and i cant hear them powering up. I have had it running, briefly, from injecting a bit of fuel straight in to the inlet, just to prove that it will run.
We really don't want to see this go to waste and would love to do something with it, me especially as i was only a boy when my dad got it, and it was born the same date as me, so i have a somewhat fond memory! But we just have too many other cars and projects for this aswel, just wish we had more space/time/money!!
If anyone is interested in this at all then please let me know, we really don't know what it is worth but would love any feedback from anyone that might, or may be interested. Contact me via PM or Email me @ 205gtmi16@carnuts.co.uk
Thanks guys!!
