Roll up, roll up folks...
For sale here I have an unassuming Peugeot 106 1.1 XN Graudate of 1994 vintage. Bought from the PPC forum towards the end of last year as a straight car with a damaged engine.
I subsequently sourced an engine and gearbox from a 106 XSi (that had been removed to be replaced with a GTi lump- mileage around 70,000). So out with the cream-crackered engine and 4 speed box and in with the 100hp 1.4 engine and 5-speed gearbox- with more than a little bit of help from Mankee (being technically inept as I am!).
I also replaced the stock steel 13" rims with some 14" AX GT ones complete with 4 nearly new Goodyears. This was not for looks but to get a lower profile tyre in order to improve the handling a touch- speaking of which, the front end also sports SPAX adjustable shocks with matching springs.
So now we have a poverty spec XN with a heatlhy BHP increase- it does feature keep-fit windows but on the upside it does have a radio cassette player.
The bad points are as follows- basically the engine propels the little beast along at a fair old crack but due to the rather cack Pipercross induction kit and the 1.1 exhaust being lashed to the 1.4 engine it does however sometimes not respond as well as the induction noise suggests- basically it seems to me that the exhaust isn't too well connected and is too restrictive anyhow so it could do with a replacement XSi one. The second, small bad point is that the speedo cable isn't connected- being French the cable connects from the underneath of the car and I haven't had a chance (or axle stands) to get it up in the air and sort that out.
Unfortunately (or not depending on how you look at it! ;-) ) I hadn't yet got round to changing the DVLA details over to reflect the engine swap.
It's taxed until July and currently MOT'ed but I'll have to check how much is left on it.
I'm looking for offers around the £450 mark as that's would be on the way to me recouping my costs. I'm selling as I bought a 306 XSi instead as my girlfriend didn't like driving the luxury and power-steering free little Pug.
Cheers,
Aaron
