Right, what have we here..
It’s an early UK registered lhd aircooled westy with no MOT or tax for bargain basement money. V5 is present and correct.
What you’re looking at really is a superb parts donor for a rust free van. The roof is absolutely lovely, the metalwork has almost no corrosion and there’s only one tiny 3cm split at the top of the fabric, the fabric is clean and the mozzie net is in one piece. It’s missing the edge trim but that’s available from JK. It slides up very easily with almost no resistance, looking at the inside, I don’t think it’s been used much. The intererior ‘fur’ stuff has mould patches but they seem to come off with some brushing. The double glazed skylight has a few marks but I reckon it could be cleaned up. The photo makes the roof look a lot worse than it is for some reason??
The other fantastic bit is the windows, it has full double glazing and all the panels except the tailgate are totally scratch free and even the rubbers are in superb nick, I suspect they may be newer than the van. The tailgate window has a little crack on the inside and some crazing but not much. It’s coming off the other van pictured and will include the dealer fit bike rack.
There’s a petrol Eber fitted, (untested) and underbody LPG tank. Inside is a nasty looking homemade unit but it will donate the double hob and grill and sink unit with footpumps. There’s some lighting It has a zig unit too, external hookup, basically, everything you need to make up your own camping interior.
What else: the dash is really nice, one door is perfect, one pretty good. It’s got a nice early steering wheel, all the switches are in place, door cards are great, the seats are pretty funky and in better nick than most of the junk on the bay…
The engine, Someone tell me what it is, it will start and drive around(no battery with it) but it runs pretty badly.
The bodywork, as you can see, is rough. Although, saying that, if it was a bay, someone would bother, it needs sills, an arch and both rear window panels at least, personally I wouldn’t try, but hey, I can’t weld!!
The deal is, buyer collects, I would like to shift it by the start of May, it’s located between Brighton and Worthing on the south coast. You’ll need to tow or trailer it.
There’s also loads of spares, I’ll be saving the obviously good bits to sell, If you can see something you need then mail me, I’l get more pics this weekend.
Make me an offer around the £500 mark, but remember, you have to pick it up.
Mail me on james.kennedy@environment-agency.gov.uk or call in the evenings on 07861 258 268
