S-reg.
LS Automatic 1.6
All completely original.
53K miles from new.
Used regularly.
Miami blue.
Chrome door handles.
Chrome bumpers.
Chrome window rubber surrounds.
Blue corduroy interior
Lots of history, including original service book and user manual.
This Golf is one of those cars that is far better than it looks. It seems to have survived a busy life very well. Despite a few dents on the corners (the chrome bumpers have suffered parking and rust damage but end caps are good), the car is amazingly solid. Inner wings show original blue paint, as do the sills, valances, inner wings and floors. Doors show rust scabs but are v solid. Tailgate (dinged) is super solid. Both front wings are badly rusted, but the inner wings are very good. Can't see any holes at all. The front x member and structural members are mint too. Rear arches are lightly crusty in places but again, inside looks very good.
Engine starts no problem and is a retro joy to drive. Auto selects well. Engine buzzes along fine at 70mph. Recently serviced, and the mileage is genuine. You could get in it and go anywhere. I know - I have.
This is an unmolested early Mk1. Basic blue cord low back seat interior has been excellently preserved. No rips or cuts. No speaker cuts in door cards, dash or rear parcel shelf (which folds down as it should). The dash is the early 2 clock one and is nearly mint. Steering wheel has a leather cover on it, as left there by old lady original owner. Nice! Even the carpets aren't damaged. Beetle-style passenger side courtesy light and loop rubber handles are there.
The Golf's got its original front grille (with AA badge), original side trim, rusty steel wheels, keys (and spares) and bootlid badges. It's about as original as it could get. Overall, it looks a bit tired on the outside because of the rusty front wings and corrosion scabs, but this is an outstanding Golf. Restore it, turn it into a sleeper or just drive it as-is, you'll be hard pushed to find another.
MoT until April 28th. Taxed til July.
Price: £900.
