Now the car has :
- 9 months MOT (I think, or thereabouts)
- 6 months Tax (might be more, can't check from here, tis in a warm garage!)
In terms of specification :
- Standard 1.85 litre slant 4, recent oil and filter change, recent new plugs, points, rotor, cap and full tuneup. Carbs recently rebuilt and achieves 30mpg+ on a frequent basis. (Oil & filter changed every 3000 miles). Antifreeze recently checked and topped up as appropriate. Has Champion double-copper-core plugs and Sports Ignition coil (for a bigger bang!). New engine fuel lines.
- 3 speed Borg Warner box, excellent condition, shifts rapidy and no hesitation. Due for a fluid change (I do it every 3000 miles) but this is simple and fluid is provided.
- Shocks & springs in excellent condition all round, recently fitted new rear shockers after one started leaking (fitted as pair). Subframe is mounted on polybrushes. Steering is fine, column recently checked over and checked for play, etc. No undue knocks or bumps. New steering boots fitted too.
- Rear axle is perfect, with no undue noises. Cruises without intrusion at any speed (motorway included!)
- Sprint wheels fitted with 175 Continental Couriers and locking wheelnuts (1 per wheel). All bearings are new barring one rear-right. Tyres are in good condition, only 30 quid a corner too.
- Brakes were replaced entirely when new, along with Aeroquip braded hoses. Car will stand on its nose. Has recent front pads.
- L&R Chrome wingmirrors fitted, along with 2 inertial reel seatbelts in the back, and one lapbelt (so a full compliment of 3).
- All electrics work A1, never had any problems with them. All gauges, controls perfect. Has a JVC CD player, two speakers and an electric aerial installed for ease of use.
- Interior is in excellent condition, only slight staining of the headlining towards the rear but easily fixable, I would have thought. Seats are A1, carpets are perfect, has two additional carpet mats, also has Mountney steering wheel fitted (although original included).
- Underside is very solid, no rust issues barring small hole on sill last MOT. There are a few older patches, but are solid and done to a suitable condition.
- Current milage is 38,000 - believed true, plenty of old MOT's and previous history to prove. Now have a large folder with stacks of history, bills, invoices and work done. Also large (300+) photo collection of show attendance, previous TV appearances (all 2, yay!) and various other odds and sods. Haynes manual too.
Now - the problems.
- Mechanically, 0. Next question!
- Cosmetic - trolley or similar scratch on front left door - down to metal but has been treated to prevent rust. Would not be difficult to touch in, just haven't had the time.
The body does suffer from some cosmetic rust - around the rear arches mainly and some on the front valance corners. None of it, however, is serious and could be sorted very easily by a competent body shop.
There are a few spots elsewhere, but they are minor. Car looks very, very presentable from a few feet and polishes up a beauty. I initially thought it was worse (in my mind, I'm picky) but I've been told the metal is actually still totally strong where the rust is present and it's nothing more than surface - which was nice!
If there's anything else that's slipped my mind, it's probably not important! Drives great, pulls well, stops well, returns great milage, headlamps are great for night driving and has NEVER let me down - and I used it as a daily driver.
Makes an excellent motorway cruiser, did 550 miles in it recently and I've never been more comfortable. Great fun to drive, especially in the wet and very relaxing too. Gets looks everywhere and people love it. Plenty of fresh parts on her too.
Like I said, price is negotiable!

At Retro-Rides show this July - where it was filmed for men and motors
I know you might think the price optimistic, and I'd agree with you, but I figure this car will make someone really happy, so thats-awat I'm askin as I think it's justified given how well the car behaves and is, and I'm more than happy to talk to people about it
