We are selling two of the fleet to concentrate on a pair of winter projects, so here’s your opportunity to buy our ’82 Cortina Crusader two-litre and our ’82 Volvo 244DL.

Long MoT – but on a SORN
In the last 18 months it has had a new steering rack and front suspension, radiator, and alternator. It’s also got Supaflex bushes on the rear, so it handles pretty well!
Three years ago it had new front wings and a partial respray, but the roof and bootlid, which are still in the original light blue, could benefit from a blow-in. One rear arch is starting to bubble now. The sports wheels still have their original trim rings. It could do with a new bonnet as inevitably it’s bubbling at the front end, but I will throw in a very good satin black one for that instant retro car look..
The interior is in very good condition. Seats and headlining are very clean and have no tears – even the bootmat’s clean!
Earlier this year it covered more than a thousand miles a week on two occasions, and it proved to be very reliable and rapid, easily cruising at 90 on the motorway.
It has a great heater and radio/cassette player, so it would make a superb winter run-around, and it’ll get you a space in the Ace Café car park on Classic Ford night!
What are we looking at for it? Well, any reasonable offer (say around £600?) as it’s gathering dust now. If we weren’t gearing up for the other projects we’d keep it, but sadly there’s a lack of space. We can e-mail pics if you’re interested.
Volvo 244DL
Yes, it’s the basic model, but it’s in very good condition (finished in eye-grabbing red) and has covered just 60,000 miles from new. It comes with plenty of history.
Yes, it’s an automatic, but it’s superb on motorways and is very relaxing to drive, thanks to its power steering. It’s MoT’d ‘til next July.
It has very good tyres all round and a new radiator was fitted last year, and has also had a cambelt recently. It has also been converted to run on unleaded. Oh, and it has a stainless steel exhaust too.
As well as an auto ‘box, it has a towbar (which we’ve never used and believe has seen very little use) and a factory-fitted sunroof.
The interior is like new, but the driver’s door pocket has been replaced as it had cracked. There’s a radio/cassette player to while away those long journeys. There are no rips, tears or holes in the seats or door panels.
All-round this 244DL is in very good condition and really is a ‘drive anywhere’ car. Go on, make us a sensible offer (around a grand, but we’ll be reasonable!) – with winter coming you’ll be grateful for its superb heater!
We can e-mail pictures of both cars if you’re interested and will answer any questions sent to Toptaff1@btinternet.com. Or give us a call on 01269 861015 (west Wales, between Llanelli and Carmarthen).
