Popped out with the wife yesterday in her Rover 214 and found that some kind soul has keyed the rear hatch above one of the lights, not a single stroke but a good 10 or so metal-deep scratches. Theres a good deep scratch on the bonnet too. I think it was done outside her work sometime last week although theres no way of really knowing when it happened.
I'm guessing it was kids, either that or someone whos really sad/mentally ill. Its not worth repairing as its just an old daily hack but still, its very annoying to see something youve worked hard for vandalised like that. Id hate to think what would have happened if id caught whoever it was in the act. I hoping it would only be a case of frog marching the little horror back to their parents house and explaining to Mum/Dad what their little angel was up to, not sure if that would have the desired effect though, id probably get a knuckle sandwich from Daddy for messing with his kids!
Every now and again theres a spate of tyre slashings in my area, theyve never found out who it is but a couple of weeks ago some poor fella went to go to work and found all the tyres on this Fiat Ducato slashed. Its been going on for as long as ive been living here, so atleast 3 years. Very sad state of affairs but no where near as bad as some areas I can think of.
I know theres pretty much FA you can do to protect yourself from this kind of damage, but its a very good argument to have an older car that your not too bothered about being dented/keyed and you can whack the odd cheap 13" tyre on if one gets slashed. Imagine having your brand new Audi or similar keyed or tyres slashed!
Anyway, bit of a half ar$ed rant, rant over but still miffed.

The reason the little sh*ts do things like this is they know they can get away with it.Even if the police catch them doing it they do F**K all.The parents don't care as they just want the kids out of there way. This sort of thing needs who ever catches them doing damage to someones property to take the law in to there own hands. The little sh*ts would soon stop when they have had a good kicking a few times.

As for the tyre slashings, simply pump them up to 50psi and insert mace fluid as you might that puncture-fixing goo.
The handling might not be so good, but stabbing the tyre would result in a cloud of stinging payback (probably).

Me: Hello i'd like to report that my car was vandalised last night Officer: Has it happend before? Me: Erm no Officer: oh thats a pity, if you said yes we would have had to send somebody to look at it. Me: So your not, theres big hand and footprints on the bonnet. (ensue 5 mins of talking about the damage) Officer: would you like counselling? Me: ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png) Apparent we will be getting a call from their customer services to see if I was satisfied with how our case was dealt with (happend more than once since) I sympathise with you mate, if only more of us under 25's were into beige paint and dangerously low ride heights there would be no problem ;D

Ive noticed the damage to cars goes up during the school holidays, they're back at school next week so it we can beathe a sigh of relief until the next holiday period.
Say if you catch someone in the act and identify them, can you sue their parents for the damage or what? Probably a bit more civilised than keying their face I guess.

It made the local paper recently when some "interesting" character immobilized an entire estate. not one vehicle escaped, over 100 tyres slashed in one night. There is also a worrying new one- squirty bottle of lighter fluid onto a front tyre, light and walk away. 2-3 in the morning, by the time you wake to the smell of smoke/fire engines its far too late ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) A very clean '94 SRi cavalier at the end of my street went up like that last month. Poor old George, I've been servicing that car since more or less new, but he's more worried that whoever it was did it to him personally and will come back to light the house. Its random though, 24 fires (inc 10 vehicles) one of which burnt the youth club to the ground. Oh, and I lost the wing mirror lottery the other night. Whats worse? I don't live in an inner city/sink hole estate etc... I live in a small hill town, the nearest bright lights are to stop aircraft flying into the Television transmitter.

The kids have sod all to do in quiet towns. At least in the city there's more heroin, crack and prostitution to keep them busy and away from petty crime like scratching up people's cars.

LOL @ Teddy Boys ;D A while ago someone got convicted for slashing tyres - he'd done hundreds of the things. Not local bored kids, but this anti-car nutter cyclist bloke who'd obviously cracked ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) . It is frustrating and really annoying when your car gets vandalised - mine's been hit a few times. It kind of makes me want to go round stamping on bike wheels outside newsagents. I'm sure most of the kids who own the bikes are alright but if you stamp on enough of them, you're bound to get one or two of the no-good little runts.

Yonks ago I got my car broken into and the radio stolen. Rang the Police, got my crime number, as the local car radio place charged insurance company rates if you provide a crime number. Fitted new radio and window, and thought no more about it.
Later that week, got a letter from Nottinghamshire Constabulary, which began Dear Victim....
Whatever next?

This sort of curse word has started happening more often round my way in last couple of years. One of my neighbour's cars got its windscreen bricked a while back but luckily, a passer-by saw the kid run off into a house just down the road. Police were called but never showed so it was a real shame to discover in the local paper the following week that somebody had vandalised the front door of said miscreant's house.

Teddy boys?? This isnt heartbeat, this is mean streets of 2008 Stoke on Trent.
More stories of underage vandals having their just deserts please, its making me feel much better.
Has anyone ever actually ran over a pre-teen tyre slasher, or seen one drown in a canal?

or seen one drown in a canal? What do you do if you see a car thief drowning? Throw in the rest of his family, it must be a good spot for them. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

It sucks,
Round here we got a quite estate, and these 2 brothers were obessed with setting fire to all the conifeir trees mainly the leylandii type. Anyway they just turned 16 a few months back and they have been evited. Really random as its not a bad area. Anyway its been loads better the last few months after they left.
I live on the edge of Gloucester, when i was younger if I was boared, i'd get on my bike with a spade, dig small jumps, build tree houses, computer games, tv, football, and when i was 15 got a metro and just cleaned and did what ever i could with my small pocket money I got. I've nevered felt the need to key or vandilised a car or anything that wasn't junk. Theres not one excuse for it.

My mates place got done over a few years ago, 9 tires slashed on most of his landys (spares too) we knew who did it, this 4ft runt who thought he could get girls by pretending to have morals and make a stand against my mates pro-hunting sign. We saw him on the street one day with his missus, made some accusations and asked some questions but before we knew it he's teary eyed and squealed like a pig!
Didn't see him with that lass anymore ;D
