To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

its a lot of work for sure, they are a kind of strut suspension as stock and you end up cutting out the inner wing and on some of those kits I've seen you chop out the original front chassis rails. The problem is that all 1st gen Mustangs suffer from "unusual" suspension geometry which a number of aftermarket sources seek to fix in a variety of ways, from shim kits to complete front end swaps. The delete of the strut assembly and replacing it with a horixonal shock probably makes room for mega headers or turbo installs....

This is a beautiful bit of machining, and an interesting approach to the problem. I love it, it's overcomplicated but beautifully executed. 11/10 Nice links Mr K, nice links

my Girls friends name is .jpg. .. This looks more like 'introducing a problem to a simple approach'.. ;D it's an old marketinmg principle, make it shiney, confuse them with science and their wallets will come running .

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

Definitely overcomplicating the IFS if you ask me ;D
And surely it's bunging the coilovers right in the way of any potential engine mounts or headers ;D

i don't really see how its complicating the job, its a fairly simple push and pivot type system used in many race cars, too many rose joints? how can that be, its only the two on the push bar that are extra to what a half decent race setup would have isnt it? stunning fabrication though a1

The only difference to a race set up seems to be that it's been turned 90deg to run lengthways in the car instead of being mounted transversely. It still uses the same bell crank and rose joints, it's just that this one is a bit more 'convenient' for a road car. It was good to see the ECTA site, I haven't been on there for a while. I'm a member of the ECTA and the SCTA and am licenced for 175mph with the SCTA! ;D www.scta-bni.org www.saltflats.com
