Whilst you've got the front bumper off take the time to check the condition of the radiator and fan + switch very carefully. It's the primary reason for breakdowns on those.
Oh, and no matter what the plastic I've had excellent results using a soldering iron and another item of the same plastic to use as a filler rod.

Isopon does a flexible plastic filler for about £5-£6. I was gonna do this with my old micra and I had a plastic welder look at it but he couldn't get anything to take to it, he reckons that on some cars with bumpers that are unpainted as standard tend to use bastardised plastic which is a mix of allsorts so no good for welding. Non-painted plastics tend to get treated with all sorts of curse word to make them black, including silicon based products which are pretty difficult to removed and makes sticking anything too it difficult!
