Been offered one - 97 model with 15k on clock, garaged its whole life and immaculate. 1.1i 3-door.
What price do you think, and any pitfalls? Is it a K-Series? Theres a bit of dampness round the rocker cover at the front of the engine, but apart from that its fine - just taken it for a motorway and town blast and it drives nicely - not quick but perky and seems to be fine at 70 - no rev counter though so no idea of the revs :-), although the brakes are a bit curse word ;D
It seems spot on for a commuter as should be cheap to run, tax, insure and put fuel in.
And does it count as retro? :-)

All the 1.1s are 8v K series. The 8v ones were never affected by any suspicion of headgasket troubles at all, so no worries there.
Brakes probably have 10 year old fluid in them, so no wonder they are a bit pants. Main things to watch for are suspension problems and rust. If it comes pre-slammed, or leaning to one side, that is a problem. If it has been garaged, it OUGHT to be not very rusty.. but check anyway.
Price? No idea. Very condition dependent obviously, but the 1.1 is the povvo spec model, and the rover 100 doesn't have a great reputation.

SHMBO's had one for a couple of years now and it's never let her down once. Starts first time and never misses a beat. Good little car tbh. Just needs slamming and some decent rims ;D

Seems to sit level and cant seen any rust but I will have a good nose around the arches and underside.
Its got full history but always from a mobile mechanic so no garage history as such - bought from new, one owner, always lived on my close AFAIK.
Oh and its a lovely turqiosey bue colour and has door cards and seats that look like they were knitted (cream), with some lovely 90's seat covers that kinda look like the strange patterns that you would get in a 90's french car :-)
Cool, although it would remain standard, apart from removing the nasty hubcaps and spraying the wheels cream

We've got one as a courtesy car at the mo. Sluggish but gets there in the end. Quite good fun to drive although I prefer my old A series one. Seems to be doing about 43mpg with mixed driving. Don't think I've seen one given decent treatment - you could be a pioneer!

I've had my GTa a couple of months now and love it. I didn't know they did a 1.1i though? Thought the SPi's were 1.4 minimum. Whatever, great underated little cars (Car of the Year on re-lauch!) that are top fun to chuck around. And you're right, all the interiors are really nice - have you noticed how wide the seats are? For the older, wider ars*e of the middle aged/ senior citizen ;D ;D I'd have thought value is gonna be around £6-700. Even if it's immaculate it's still a 1.1 & the market isn't there. Only thing that's peeing me off is the lack of alternative rimmage. I mean, 95.25 pcd What do you do with that! Otherwise, loads of po-ten-tial.

You are looking at 60PS, at 5700rpm. Not so shabby for an old 1.1.
Loads of upgrade options. Your limit is the R65 gearbox the engine is bolted to. Any K series ought to fit it, but it won't handle daft torque. Plenty of mini owners use that box with a 1.6 16v K series though, and put 125 BHP into it without any fuss. So it isn't like it HAS to be slow. You may not be planning on tuning it, but you have the option all the same.
3 door is good though, much better base for modification than the ungainly looking 4 door. Two possible looks.. Go for a very 80s MG hot hatch look. Lots of red trim, digital everything on the dash, red seatbelts, that sort of thing. Or.. Go the comedy route, paint it up as an NCAP test car.

These things are worth nothing - which is a shame really.

Or.. Go the comedy route, paint it up as an NCAP test car. But don't crash it, because you'll die. The crash protection is fairly terrible; if you're lucky enough to have an airbag, the off-centre steering wheel deflects your head into the door window. curse word. Don't let that put you off though...

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Don't let that put you off though... That was one of my main worries to be honest - appears to be made out of the finest grade tin foil No airbag on this one - doesn't even have a 12V output/cigarette lighter doodah!

Makes me laugh also when i drive the "new" daily 899cc Cinquecento and it feels fast at 30mph, though not as fast a the 58 2CV felt when it was 15mm off the road with no seatbelts and suicide doors! NOW THAT WAS FAST!!!!!!

There good motors. If theres no rust around the rear arches, subframe mounts, floors and sills then youve found a goodun! Still only worth about £500 tops I think.
They had an NCAP crash rating of 1 star IIRC. Really bad in smashes compared to other cars.

Nice motors,i learned to drive in a 100.The cream rims sound good,I've had loads of metros in the past but one of the most recent ones i stripped out everything i could just so there was enough to drive it.you'd be suprised what it could do once all the weight was ripped out.But yours sounds too good to do that to.Perhaps a de-badged look nice and simple Euro style look, but as has been said wheel choice is limited to virtualy nout.
