It's foolishness not racing. The organizers pick a competitor's car for crushing mid-race by a backhoe. They aren't even allowed to go that fast, or they get part of their windshield obscured for a steward's corrective. Daffy. The 24 Hours of Nelson Ledges was a far more serious and worthy budget race. Lemons is a farce of a farce, rather than just a farce.

Farces of farces are often GREAT FUN! Didn't mean to say otherwise. But it ain't racin', brother. LOL!
Climbing the North Face of the Uxbridge Road was a right fun farce too, but it wasn't mountaineering.

Indeed - if it were serious motorsport there would be more mandated safety equipment etc etc.
The thing being - if you can run a $500 banger for 24 straight hours on the freeway thats one thing, but to do it while wailing round a track, I understand the attrition rate is very high...
Stuff like Volvos do well apparently - keep running despite being knackered and don't use too much fuel so not too many pit stops.

to do it while wailing round a track There is no more wailing. More like whaling. Because they specifically do not want fender to fender racing, or high speed laps. So now it really is like driving on the highway, actually. Except the organizers do silly things to your car like block your vision, insert objects through the roof, or crush it on the spot for random giggles.
