From Wikipedia.... "The Triumph V8 was used in the Triumph Stag and in a limited number of Saab 99s." "48 Saab 99s were equipped with a Stag V8 from Triumph, but the idea to use a V8 was later dropped in favour of a turbocharged engine." Wooah! Anyone got any more info? Anyone know how hard or otherwise the conversion would be?

Was it John Sleath who used to run a V8 saab back in the mid 90's

slightly different thing that, that was a full fram race car. I'm talking about cloning a production car, one which would still have heater, sound deadener, radio, etc. as a fast commuter.

Sounds interesting. Wonder if it stayed fwd? Stag V8s are lovely engines now that a few decades of problem solving has made them reliable.

Would have been FWD as the turbo was.

The saab is in his field now as a cut up shell.
The caddy motor was the northstar v8 iirc

Unless you mean the 2 litre lump in the old Cimarron.... Not sure any of the vehicles the Northstar has been usedin are exactly "compact" but you can get one in a Fiero....

Isn't the slant-4 engine in Triumphs/Saab 99s basically half a Triumph V8 anyway?
|
|

exactly. but that doesn't mean a Stag engine is a drop-in fit though. vauxhall's slant 4 was half a V8 but fitting a Chevy lump into a Victor involves some pishing about.
