Popped round to a friends last night. back in the early 80's when he used to do a lot of racing with an Alfa GTV6 he built himself an Alfetta saloon pickup. its been sitting in the barn unused for the last 15 years, & me & his kids have been trying to persuade him that this should be the next item to get re-built / restored..............last night he admitted it was & he was taking a week off on the next half term to strip & weld it. Its basicly got this kinda conversion; & its a square headlight model like this; As it has to be kinda practical he wants to ensure its injection not carbs, & I've been trying to persuade to use a 2.5v6 injection GTV6 lump he has sitting in the shed. Practical with lovely sound & torque for towing. he reacons on painting it white - easire to hide any nasty bits of body modifying / ripply panels etc... as he is a bit of a perfectionist. other than that..........any other suggestions.

Sounds like it's pretty well sewn up already, although dare I add the Alfa rims in the ebay thread to the mix? They are epic, bubble arches FTW ;D

Saloon to pickup convertions often look a bit odd but that one looks great.

The reason that alfa works is that its a boxy car so the flat cab rear section works well. Its also got a nicely proportioned rear window in. Most pickup conversions are done on curvy cars. They chop the roof off, then weld a flat panel 90 degrees from the floor to fill the hole. I reckon we got it pretty right on a Prefect pickup I helped my mate build. We could have gone to Pop doors but then the cab would be too long. My mates brother made the cab back using a box section frame with steel plate over the top. We also radiused the door tops to flow with the roof aswell rather than having a sharp corner leading to a curve. Matt
