I hadnt realised they had hacked holes in the roofs, i thought all the cars had sunroofs :-(
I really like that dolly, and it looked minty. I'm sure all the engine issues were completely dramatised as well. Top Gear has just got too unbelievable now really, its ruining itself.

my girlfriend was at work the other day and noticed someone had a pic of an sd1 as there computers wallpaper. got chatting and turns out the out it was this girls dads(?, i'll find out th details tonight) sd1!
apparently he was a little pi55ed off to say the least. and i don't blame him.
if they're really into cars, why smash up rare examples for entertainment? i don't watch the show, purely cos it winds me up, but i heard that it was a series one sd1 aswell?

Audi 80, Volvo 940, Rover 416, Porsche 928, Jaguar xjs, BMW 635csi, Starion Turbo, Masser Merak, Masser Bi turbo, 2 T3 campers, Herald convertible, Nissan pick up, 2 Hiluxs, Espace, Fiat Panda, Alfa 164, saab 9000, MGF, E34 BMW, Scorpio, Omega, what ever else they used for car darts. The list goes on....................
So why the 3 BL cars are such a terrible waste and is worth another thread is beyond me. If you have a problem with Top gear using old cars then try watching 'car duels' on Dave, they wreck old cars and it's not even entertaining.

Too true Jack. That Car Duels thing is absolute rubbish. Made the mistake of watching it the other day and was practically screaming at the screen as the idiotic Adrian Simpson kept on going on about Reliant Robins. They were sodding Rialtos!!
At least he didn't call them Robin Reliants, which a Top Gear presenter recently did in a book about a big crash. His brain did take quite a walloping though, so I'll let him off.

That "vroom vroom" programme is flannel too. Lots of motors totalled. Some are funny like dropping a volvo 740 estate from 130ft onto concrete, others not so funny.

'Vroom vroom' is staggeringly bad. I have no idea what the hell they were thinking at any point of making that show. It's not just a waste of the odd old car, it's a waste of the oxygen the presenters and production team are breathing. So we can sum up UK car TV so far as: 1. Top Gear - generally entertaining, sometimes brilliant, but hates old cars and is working very hard to convince 300 million people that they're only good for smashing to bits. 2. Fifth Gear - too much like a cheapskate Top Gear a lot of the time, but getting a lot better now they've binned the football berk and featuring retro content whenever Jonny Smith's on it. 3. Pretty much everything else - totally worthless drivel Think how many programmes there are about fixing up your house or buying and selling antiques. Surely there's space for another decent car show?  |

Our readers keep telling us to make a classic car programme - like it's that easy! For a start, I've got a perfect face for radio and the presenting skills of, well, someone on Vroom, Vroom.
GT Racer or whatever it is on Dave is good. No presenter, just wealthy folk talking about racing wonderful cars, shots of the cars in action (albeit sometimes the wrong sound is played on top of the footage so you get invisible gear changes - still sounds gorgeous!) and flashes of totty every now and then too. As excited as the TG crowd get about new cars, only a Pagani Zonda seems to get close to the spine-chilling excellence of a straight-six Aston barking through a racing exhaust. Nyom, nyom indeed.

So what would "our" ideal car programme be?
A mix of the "mad" bits of TG (e.g. Captain Slow NEVER winning a race!!), some of the "practical" aspects of 5thG, plus some "proper" retro? What do "we" want on TV? PPC? PC? The old CCC? Or Revs? Max Power? Evo? Octane? Or something else?

I don't have sky now but for the short time I did I liked Thunder Racers on Discovery, also loved Wheeler Dealer but agree most of the rest is drivel.
As for if the BL cars what drives me mad is the extra enthusiasm that Clarkson puts into destroying them.
