just out of curiosity.
anyone who might be interested in a daft tootle down the strip at a rwyb weekend when the weather picks up,where would suit? I'm aware some may have to travel further than others, but I'm sure if we put our collective heads together we could find a compromise. i think it would be bloody good fun and a chance to meet some of you guys. ;D ;D ;D
i personnaly don't have a problem travelling anywhere.
cheers in advance for the input ;D

I only know Santa Pod, so I voted for that one! I'm fairly new to this drag strip malarkey. I would like to know where the others are too though - I think Pod is closest to me - just down the M1 40-odd miles. Can't wait to have some fun on there! ;D

All of them are treks for me, not sure if I could attend, I'd have to see whatever commitments I had for whenever it was on, same as the retro cars show really, it takes me ages to get there so I'd need to see whether I had the whole weekend to myself, and whether my Imp was up to the job, since my Imp's still an awkward little b*stard when you need to go anywhere in it! The Imp isn't much of a drag strip car, but it'd be good fun all the same, if a bit of an embarassment being skinned alive by all your powerful cars!

Greenock, West coast of Scotland, not far from Glasgow! and your car is still probbly more powerful than mine at the moment, my Imp has a party trick of running on three cylinders!

thats quite a trick! i used to have a 2.8 v6 granada hearse that was running on 2 when i got it. changed the plug leads and sprayed a gallon and a half of wd40 on it and voila nice and smooth again ;D ahhh i lament the sale of that mobile.it certainly turned heads, and it was better on fuel than my two litre merc!

Santa Pod please!
Easiest to get to for me. About half an hour.
Weald and Shakey as alternatives as neither is too far!

If only that was what was wrong with the Imp, but I think that I have serious valve trouble, but it's Ok because I'm stripping down my spare engine (every Imp owner should have one, just in case! ) and making it into a serious raceable engine, preferable 998cc, which doesn't sound much more than the 875 it has but believe me it makes a difference, Imp engines can manage respectable power outputs from little capacity, and besides my Imp is going to be pretty light soon, a standard late Super Imp weighs around 675kg, mine will be a bit lighter since I've already begun stripping the interior out, soon all the door trim, carpets and the like will be replaced by alloy sheet and chequerplate, the four standard seats have already been removed to accommodate two Recaro buckets and four TRS harnesses, and I've already got a fibreglass bonnet from another Imp I had to go on it, and I'm thinking about getting a lightweight engine lid (bootlid on most other cars but of course an Imp is rear engined) so it's going to be a bit light when it's done, so when I'm done with it it'll be light, moderately powerful, and since I'm going with 998cc and not bigger (1100 and the like are possible but when they're that hard pushed they lose a lot of reliablility and this car will still be my daily driver when it's done as well as a track day/motorsports car)

nice work fella. I'm not up on imps and the like but ive read that the engines can be tuned to curse word.whats the tuning parts market like for the little fellas?i should imagine its thriving? I'm always well impressed by a man who uses his track day, rally, drag, autotest car as his daily driver.i think it shows strength of character and a trust in ones own work.(or in laymans terms-a complete f*cking loony) ;D i myself fall into that category.

The tuning parts market is very good, there are a lot of specialists around who can supply performance parts, and the engine is really revvable as you say, 10000 rpm can be exceeded on a well tuned (and not knackered like my last race engine was ;D ;D ;D) 998 apparently!
