Are they called the "E" series? I forget.. Anyway, oil is absolutley pouring out of the seal between the clutch/transfer gear housing and the engine block/gearbox. I'm guessing its the crank rear main oil seal but theres an idler gear and 1st motion shaft into the gearbox that both have oil seals too.
Has anyone replaced these seals? Is it a common problem? Clutch is destroyed so that will need replacing too. Flipping thing.

These are renowned for this i believe, I have a load of 1980's 'car mechanics' type mags and the help pages ors full of folk with maxis with slipping clutches. A right old war to fix it too. Sorry.

Thats ok Mr B. Try to make sure next time I ask for advice on a busted motor the info you give is in the "easy 5 min fix" category. Ill let you off this time.
Maybe an A series transplant is in order.
