Appologies in advance for not having the obligatory underground carpark photos or and shots of the car on a block paved driveway which I understand are essential for any "I just washed my car and applied some 'designer' wax I paid £50 for" thread on the net these days. But hey ho. Here we have one 1993 model Mazda 626. Its a bit dirty. Its not a lot dirty. The miracle cleaning jism stuff says you don't need to wash the car first because it has magic beans technology which vapourises the dust and dirt in some fashion, probably by the power of pixies. TBH if the car was much dirtier than this I'd wash it first, I don;t trust them damn pixies. Seen Kim Deal recently? close up of the wing it is red you will notice. Now apply the jism. I had to resist making the UH UH UH OH YES BABY TAKE IT LIKE YOU WANT IT ALL OVER YOUR FACE UHHHHH noise while doing this bit. OK I didn't. But its OK my daughter wasn't home. Simply wipe off the jism with a microfiber cloth (4 miracle microfibre cloths are supplied with the box o' stuff - what ever happened to using a sock huh? ) and buff gently to remove any residue. No residue so no buffing really. Also no smearing and no swirling or scratching. Panel feels silky smooth like its been freshly waxed or something funked up like that. yeah, looks OK and is easy so lets continue. Bonnet got done. Normally anythignother than Autoglym and I end up with a smeary mess here. But with the awesome gonad juice it was straight on and straight off. No mess. Bumper hasn't been done yet I also usually hate doing the roof, same reason. big flat panel and I am a spazzer done in seconds and looking pretty nice dubious light quality as it was getting late yeah, you know whats going on by now so I can save my fingers any more typing verdict: does what it says on the tin (or bottle rather). Easy to use, spunky, smells odd, makes shiny. No idea about durability. We'll see how long it beads up for in the rain. Also have to say ot made a really nice job of the black bits like the window frames and the like.

Impressive! And easier on the wrist. In a 'not having to labour with a polishing cloth way' not a reference to your method of application ;D

Isn't it just the silicone that makes the panels smooth? Bit iffy on your paintwork is silicone, especially if you want to get it off for a touch up.

no idea if its silicone. Lots of waxes have silicone in. Any wax will prevent you touching up. that what hot washing with solvent is for. aint nothing on the paint then.

car wash costs proper money rich guy! The way I look at it, the full monty costs a bluey. I get it done once every two months. Thats £2.50 a month or 62.5p per week. In other words, my kids have to sacrifice a bag of crisps a week to keep the car clean. It's a small price to pay.

what harm does sillicone do to piant? none really. if you need to touch up or repaint you have to get every trace of silicone off though or the new paint won't stick and can risk getting "fisheyes". Also on very new paint (well, celly, acrylic, not sure about 2K ad waterbased) if you use silicone on it before its fully cured the silicone can be absorbed back into the paint and cause fisheyes and other problems. Thats another reason you shouldn;t wax a new paint job for lke 90 days Thats why you'll see some waxes say "non-silicone - bodyshop safe"

Had an argument with a old boy at work the other day.apparently fairy liquid is a fantastic way of cleaning your car!And never done his multicoloured nova, with literally bolted on bumpers,a shred of harm!! Also when i was running decked-dubs with chi,i was informed that mr.muscle is an acceptable way of detailing your car!THUMBS UP!

I have to say that 99% of the population used Fairy liquid for decades. I don't think the derision which the "detailing scene" give it is justified, you'd think that it would remove paint at 20 paces the way they go on. Its actually pretty good stuff for removing old polish residue etc. due to its degreasing properties. When I'm painting something I wash it down in fairy liquid first as it saves on using solvent.
The only problem with using fairy or similar to wash your car is that it removes wax so you would need to keep applying wax to keep the paint protected. Cheaper brands use a lot of salt in them too so make sure you rinse well LOL...
I once had an estate car so badly stained with leaf prints (it had been "stored" in a wood for a few years) that I attacked it with JIF scouring powder in the end. It got the stains off (mostly) but I had an odd matt finish...

Many dish washing products contain salt. Salt makes glasses shine. Salt encourages rust.
