Anybody got any hints on what to look for on my 205 - it was working fine yesterday, today, no start, just turns over and over.
I've replaced the cap and arm, cleaned the leads but it seems that there is no spark. I've tried a known good coil, no go.
I'm curse word livid at the moment, so i'm going for a walk.
at least i'm on holiday ...
curse word fuckity curse word.

try changing the ignition amplifier, depending on the year it'll either be mounted on the dizzy or on an alloy plate next to the coil. I used to work at a peugeot garage and these were known for going tits up.

yeah, it's on the ally plate ...
i've checked pretty much everything else, so it would be the one bit i can't get today - the scrappys are closed and i'm not buying a new one, it's probably more than the cars worth.
just checked gsf - 20 quid, hmmmm

20 quid sounds like a bargain to me, i rekon you'd be lucky to get a second hand one for less than a tenner and that could be on the way out too. I think this is your problem, like you say you've checked everything else, although i remember replacing coil, dizzy and ignition pack on my old transit once just to find that it was the coil lead breaking down under load, DOH!

It can be done but i cant remember for the life of me how to do it. You need to measure the resistance between the pins but i cant remember what pins and what the resistances are If you can get hold of the old style haynes manual (the ones before they made them for idiots) it tells you in there how to do it.

If its the ohc engine then its just 2 11mm bolts and unplug the loom. If its the old rattlebox engine then i think its a 13mm holding the clamp on but its a bit awkward cos the dizzy gets in the way. The ohc dizzy only goes in one way but the ohv one dosent, so make sure you mark it before you take it out.
